So am I missing something or are there no ships anymore?

There is a beastmen clan near bretonnia out on the water after I defeated them. I dont want them to remain there because they will attack one of my minor ports eventually. However I cant seem to build any ships. How do I deal with them?

There is no naval combat and no ships in Warhammer. You can send troops on transport ships like in Rome 2 and Attila, but can't attack other transports, so you'll have to wait for the Beastmen to land first.

Huh? You can attack other armies in the water, you don't need to build ships, you just click on their army and your army moves out onto the water and attacks. You just can't actually play the battle, auto-resolve only.

Wich really sucks, I was expecting some badass naval combat when I saw the Warhammer trailer for the first time :/

If the next installment features the New World (and it almost certainly does), naval combat is all but guaranteed to be in. Or you could get Man O' War.

Yep after the old world has no real need for naval battles it is expected that with the next two games the map will contain some more water to make a navy usefull
