I've been pretty disappointed with how Total War games handle cavalry combat for a really long time (to the point where I practically never use cavalry). They charge home into a block of infantry, sending infantry flying, then fight in formation on horseback as if they were infantry. Realistically, cavalry either pierced through infantry in drive by fashion (never stopping), or if the infantry block held the horses would hesitate against the wall of pointy nasties and run around the infantry or be cut down/shot down.

I know it's not possible to be completely accurate but I'd at least like to find a way to make it so that cavalry is a drive-by entity that swipes at the enemy as they ride past, without cavalry bowling over every man in the unit. Think the reason this doesn't work so well in Total War games is because the individual soldiers do not have advanced individual pathing, they function as one unit.

Is it possible to get closer to a satisfying cavalry experience in TW:W?
