How they get to patrol the ships in TW 2?

Well, I give them the order to patrol and they do not move, do not they? I tried giving the order to patrol and then right click doing the route, and nothing, it does not move

I didn't realise patrol was possible in this game... surely not? I can't have missed this point for all these years...

"patrol" is one of the stances for fleets along with 'forced march' and others. Similar to armies, button in same place.

The patrol stance doesn't actually make them move in the campaign map. It gives some bonuses, but it would be annoying having to see your fleet moving pointlessly during each end turn.
