    Copied from the other thread:

    You're getting the error message:
    "Login failed - invalid CD-key"

Right this is how to resolve (with thanks to various posters)
You cannot change the cd-key ingame anymore (most likely for the protection against illegal games), so you have to do other things.

    Open Start
    Click Run
    Type: regedit
Now go to this: "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/SEGA/Medieval II Total War"

Now you'll see a value representing the CD-key. Change it to what it should be. You could have done the following wrong:
    -Don't type spaces
    -Do type the "-"s
    -Don't use "o"s use "0"s
-Type everything (except for the numbers obviously) in capital letters

Yeah I had to fix it with the registry. I mean they are clearly Os on the back of the manual not 0s but it didn't take long to fix

When this happened to me I re-installed it and made sure all the letters were capitals. It works now.

Re-install game. Make sure anti-virus etc doesn't block the keys from being written.

I've got ths same problem too and as I can't see a way around it I'm gonna email CA and bust their balls!

Actually, I have just thought of a way around it: arrange a game with a friend and both download hamache which I'm told is software that sets up a virtual LAN between you and your mates IP address therefore no CD key needed to enjoy hot multiplayer action!

    P.S. I haven't tried hamache yet
