    Default [WIP?] Third Age 3 - Industrialization

    Third Age 3 - Industrialization is a self-made submod of Third Age: Total War. Obviously, the mod is about the industrial revolution of Middle-Earth. You could experience the battlefield of human and orcs, equipped with muskets and cannons. (I bet many of you had this fantasy)

    Since there is no English translation of it (I'm a Chinese) and I am worrying about the permission issues (I don't have the permission from the official development team of TATW, and a few artillery and unit models are originally from Call of Warhammer...), I will not release it as a free submod here before I figure out all these issues. Let me just share some screenshots and GIFs with you for now.

    The avaliable factions are:
    Gondor, Rohan, High & Silvan elves, Dwarves, Eriador, Dale, Arnor, Isengard, Mordor, Rhun, Harad, the Orcs of Gundabad, the Orcs of the Misty Mountains and Alessia( A fictional nation with females only; an invasion faction in late period of the game.)

    I have made new units for each faction(more than 90 new units in total), including modern and the old armies (Units from The Battle of the Five Armies).

    Different class of units including line infantry, skirmishers, jet units... all have their unique formations and battlefield AI.

    The mod is completed and the campaign is available. Many new script events are made, including but not limited to:


    The invasion of sand worms;

    Diplomatic mediation with the Alessians(for Eriador only);

    The choice of Eriador(Alliance with Gondor, Alessia or be independent )

    It would be great if someone inform me about the rules for releasing submods (Do I need to PM for permissions from all the authors of TATW, Call of Warhammer and 1648?).

    Cause I really want to share my works with you but I don't want to hurt anyone's intellectual property.





    Conclusion: It's a gunfight submod which needs permission & translation, and its author is looking forward to release it at a right time.

    (I am still a newbie here, not quite familiar with the forum. Hopefully, my typesetting is fine)

    Well, that is really "something completely different". The very hardcore Tolkien lovers will probably be shocked to the core. Personally, I think it looks like great fun and it's nice to see a mod with distinct Asian influences for a change.

    I'm not familiar with the rules for using stuff from Call of Warhammer and 1648, but for TATW there is an updated guideline that should tell you everything you need. You can find it HERE.

    Basically you need to have a permission for everything unless stated otherwise by original creators or you've made it from scratch.

    Ha! This is just silly. But hey, have fun with it for those who wanna try it. Gotta give you credit, I think you're the first moder to show trying to reskin the Gundabad orcs to have the armor from the movies

    Yea wow I like all of your models for the Gundabad orcs it is funny seeing all of Peter Jackson's outlandish ideas like the trolls with no eyes and the dwarven chariot in TATW

    This is a very interesting concept haha. I'm liking the looks of all the units, especially the Guldur Orcs and the amputee Trolls. I'm looking forward to its release lol

    Wow i might actually give this a try haha, it looks absolutely crazy (in a good way)! The big explosions look amazing.

    I may take this task as my grammar class. (I'm an international student anyway...)

    I love my Guldur orcs too~ and it seems that I am the first one who made them.
    Modders gave orcs too little attention...

    Well, there is not much sense in asking King Kong for permission, as you would probably have to wait an awful long time for your answer (maybe for ever). That's not a big problem though, as the post I linked you to explains what you may use for your submod quite clearly.

    There are also links to DisgruntledGoat (DG) and Louix Lux's (LL) posts about permissions. DisgruntledGoat has granted permission to everybody to use all his work, but Louix Lux hasn't AFAIK, so you should check his post about permissions carefully.

    Your (written) English looks fine to me, but I guess translating a large amount of mod texts will be a good exercise anyway.

    A little message about your posting: Please do not engage in consecutive posting as you have done here, but rather combine all replies in one post or perhaps 2 posts as in this case. As you cannot edit your posts yet (You need to be a member of this site for at least a week and have made 25 posts to do that) I edited it for you. Also it is not always clear to whom you are responding. Quoting, as you did in a few cases, is a good way to make sure it is.

    It does look fun. Maybe I will whip up some tanks or something and contribute.

    LL did not model his Elven units, others including myself did, so you only need permission if you are using the textures I reckon. I don't think anyone that did the modeling cares about permissions. I made 4 of them I think so you can at least use those.

    I always like things like this. Shows a sense of... I suppose progression? It's one of the things that's always bothered me with Fantasy in general; thousands of years go by in absolute stasis, if they don't go backwards. It's nice to see it the other way around for once.

    Hope it all works out, already got this marked on my "to play" list.

    The very hardcore Tolkien lovers will probably be shocked to the core.
    Putting it mildly, man. The Homestuck fanbase is nicer than the Tolkien diehards.
