Thread: Knightfall - A New TV series on History Channel

Yeah I exited off from the trailer as soon as one of them mentioned "holy grail." Why we can'tjust retell something interesting from history without manufacturing a bunch of needless side stories or something as ridiculous as the (real) holy grail being the center of the plot I will never know. I mean, let's watch Peter Bartholomew die from the ordeal by fire after defending the legitimacy of the spear of Longinus to show what really happened as opposed to these fake wars over a holy grail. Do you think they're just trying to appeal to a vastly Christian audience?

It might not be such a large plot point. The trailer might be distorting it but who knows.

Im betting the fighting scenes at the holy land are all from a flashback in the first 10 mins.

"i am not worthy to find the grail"

heaven forbid we put the focus on the actual conflict that brought down the templars. i mean, they got screwed by the pope and the french king, isnt that ample conflict? do we really need any more mumbojambo?

Those faction colours give me Med 2 nostalgia. Costumes look pretty good now though.

I don't see how flat-topped great helms and plate shoulder armour can be reconciled in any way.

Those would be spaulders on the shoulders, which did exist in the 14th century, although this obviously takes place in 1307 when the Templars were destroyed, so perhaps a bit too early for this type of partial-plate armor. I was just glad that they didn't show full-on 15th-century style pauldrons covering their shoulders and armpits. Meanwhile the Great Helm was used by European knights well into the 14th century, so the date ranges for spaulders and Great Helms actually overlap.

My mistake, I had no idea it was set in 1307! Considering the date, the outfit is indeed more plausible. But like you said; at least it's not pauldrons belonging to full plate armour.

Managed to get through the episode. Acting is wooden, dialogue is rubbish, music is really really awful, directing is poor, plot is predictable.

Shame because they clearly put a lot of money into it.

Still haven't seen it... but by Saint George I'm scared now.
If I don't come back by the end of the week shouting "God Wills It" then you know I hate it. Which is bad cause I actually really like Kingdom of Heaven.

    In a nutshell...:
-cheap made in China swords with "templar" decorations
-cheap armor kits scavenged from other films
    -cheap actors?( not sure)

Are there damsels locked away in high towers being saved by knights in shining armor? Otherwise I'm not interested.

they should just make an assassins creed movie without the parts set in present day, then they wouldnt have to bother about historical accuracy.

Yeah I just watched the first episode yesterday. Anyone hoping for a Vikings-style good historical fiction piece will be highly disappointed.

How the channel managers have had the courage to promote such a big crap?
