Riverspring, Seat of Ser Ryon Lefford
Riverspring Castle, seat of the Knight of Riverspring
Riverspring Castle, as it stands now, is not the first castle to occupy the site. The area has been an important marchland of the Westerlands for hundreds, if not thousands, of years. Before the unification of the continent, the Kingdom of the Rock maintained a garrison of knights here, keeping a close watch on the Riverlands to the east, a land of ever-changing overlords and allegiances. The castle is nestled in the hills between the pass at Goldentooth to the north, and the pass at Deep Den to the south, sited near the river that runs northwards into the Riverlands towards Stoney Sept, and from there turns eastwards, flowing eventually into the Blackwater itself. Small boats ply trade up this waterway, bringing goods to and from Stoney Sept primarily, but the occasional vessel comes from as far as King's Landing itself.

The Knights of Riverspring
(2,000 Westerland Knights)
The garrison of Riverspring has been greatly enlarged by Ryon, who has devoted a significant proportion of the province's incomes to recruiting more men. Two thousand men strong, the Knights are a powerful force sited on the borders of the Westerlands, easily able to ride north or south to aid in the defence of the mountain passes, or to sally forth into the Riverlands and Crownlands beyond at a moment's notice.
