    Default A Simple Life

The lands beyond the wall are mysterious, home to savage tribes and mythic monsters. But, in contrast to popular opinion life Beyond the Wall is generally a dull affair, fleeting moments of crushing fear and close calls only serve to briefly interupt a life of monotonous survival. The Haunted Forest, as the Crows call it, an ancient and primordial place inhabited by men and beast alike - not a place for the weak of body, nor the faint of heart. The Wall rises up into the clouds in the distance, a prison of ice and intolerance.. or as some would have you believe fear of some long forgotten foe, and a lonely set of tracks makes its way over the snowbanks for miles. The forest is silent for now, as the sun dances its way across the sky, its weak and passing rays of light illuminating the dark recesses of this unknown place. A lone man can be seen trugging through the forest, his face horribly windswept, covered head to toe in a mixture of animal skins and matted human hair, he resembled a miniature giant more than a southern lordling. The outer layers of his hair and clothing were enveloped in moss, a farm mouse took refuge in the locks of the strange man's beard, and a disturbing array of human like bones hung from his neck - clanging lightly in the breeze, laughing. An old scabbard hung at his hip, seemingly made from twine and goat skin - an unimpressive thing. The weathered old man looked toward the wall with dead gray eyes, as if he expected a Murder of Crows to swoop down and steal him at any moment.. but they never came, fears from a life long passed. The mysterious figure winced as a pang rose up from his gut, causing him to tightened his grip on a simple Ironwood bow, the gifts of the Old Gods weren't given.. they were taken. His eyes hunted for signs of his prey, a large antlered elk that he'd been tracking for two days.

[OOC: What is it you need me to do here? I don't see the need to have a mod RP an elk. ]

He could smell the elk, a steady drip of its blood winding its way through patches of broken branches, staining the snow. It's steps were growing weak and unsteady, the snow was like a marker for these sorts of things, a slip.. a tumble.. it was weakened, easy prey. The sun was beginning to set when he finally found the elk, it had a truly massive rack of antlers. It was lying in the snow, as Edrick came into view it tried to stand and run, only to tumble back into the snow. He approached a simple bronze, bone hilted knife in hand. The elk whimpered and its breath rose in massive plums in the frigid air. An end to your pain.. The man whispered, running a knife gently over the creatures throat, with his free hand he held the beast's mouth shut as to stop predators from coming. Once the beast bled out he lashed the carcass to a sled of branches, held with twine. It was a few miles to the next village, Edrick hoped they hadn't taken up shop and moved. There were things he needed to trade for.
