Strategy map resolution missing

Hello everyone

I got a very strange problem with Rome / BI / Alexander.
Certainly it is of interest that I try to get it run on a GPD WIN.
Specs: Windows 10 Home, 1280 x 720, Intel Atom X7 Z8700, Intel HD Graphics 405, RAM 4GB

After a clean install (no mods, patch 1.5) I am not able to set the strategy map resolution. There is just a blank space. If I start a campaign it lags like hell and in the video settings the resolution is set to enormous numbers (around 40’000x2’000) which I cannot change in game. Battle map resolution on the other hand is there and works fine.

Of course I tried a lot of different combinations in the preferences file without any success. Read only doesn’t work either. It always sets it back to 1280x768 which isn’t even my native resolution (1280x720).
Widescreen has also no effect.

The game itself works perfectly fine on my laptop (Predator 593).

Does anyone have an idea what can cause this problem?

Have you tried re-installing the game?
Does the problem persist even when installing to a different hard-drive?
Do you play the game from disc or over Steam?

Such simple questions might answer so many in-depth answers :p
