Nearly perfect IMO, just some tiny bit of nitpicking.

I´d arm melee unit captains the way their men are armed.
As I´ve already written in the Alpha feedback thread, I´d give the Gondor Militia black Gambesons, like the Pinnath-Gelin Spearmen, and the Gondor Infantry shields.

Also, there´s a lot of clipping happening with pretty much all Gondorian big shields, I´d suggest slightly increasing the distance at which they are held and the angle a bit to the left from the soldiers perspective. This pretty much gets rid of clipping, CA did it with their WoS Aspides.

BTW, will these units be added to the public battle balancing?

There´s just one unit IMO that´s missing, have you considered adding Dol Amroth men-at-arms?
They are one of the better armed contingents coming to aid Minas Tirith,
IMO they´d fit the roster better as field unit than fountain guards.

Maybe fountain guards could be a general´s unit only?

Absolutely brilliant. If I was going to add to Maetharin's, maybe add a white/light grey/light brown tunic for militia units for variation but that's it.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
I am me. You are not me. You are you. If I was you, I wouldn't be me.
If you were me, I'd be sad.But I wouldn't then be me because you'd be me so you wouldn't be me because I wasn't me because you were me but you couldn't be because I'd be a different me. I'd rather be any kind of bird (apart from a goose) than be you because to be you I'd have to not be me which I couldn't do unless someone else was me but then they would be you aswell so there would still be no me. They would be you because I was you so to restore balance you would have to be me and them meaning all three of us would become one continously the same. That would be very bad.

All of them are excellent guys, you have done a fantastic job !
My only gripe is with the swan knights.
I think they should have more visible plate armor , have everyone wear a helmet and have their horses have more barding.
Since the common infantry can afford this it would be weird if knights went into battle with only mail armor and coifs.

I imagine somethig like these from third age

Games like Lotro also offered some nice concepts ( there are some nice helmets in that game which would fit even better than the one below)

I know you guys want to have your own concepts, dont like comparisons to the Third Age mod all the time and I dont ask to change your plans if you are set on them.
I just suggest those because I think they nailed the knightly aesthetic while also retaining the Lotr feel and would be nice in this mod.

Are you referring to some specific picture ?
I dont over the top either, just felt they look more "knightly" in these outfits

It's funny, "knight" in Tolkien books = person who actually has steel mail armor and is skilled in the art of war. xD

I´d say pretty much everything is in their variantmeshdefinition already, I´d just give every single one of them helmets and the breastplate of the captain.
They are the elite of the elite, they´d be able to afford a full panoply head to toe, and thus a certain uniformity.

Maybe variety could be included by transferring their tabard emblems onto their shields?
It would be how you´d express individuality throughout history.
F.e. how knights had their family´s heraldry painted onto their shields, or that one Spartan with the tiny fly on his Aspis

If some of you curious about swan knights reference I've been using:

This is a real life knight that existed in similar era (at some point) as Tolkien was describing.
Perhaps your confusion about how heavy knights should be comes from the Third Age because they were never portrayed so heavy anywhere else.

Here's a scan from concept arts book for Return of the King film (yeah that one which Peter Jackson has made).
Here's how lotr team was going to make Swan Knights:

Now I hope you comparisons with TATW unit stop confusing you.

maybe we just want swan knight seems cool rather than more rational or realistic. current outfit is relatively not cool as Gondor Infantry. Gondor Infantry and spearman are just so amazing.

It`s not really a matter of confusion per se.
I know that Tolkien initially envisioned the soldiers having mostly mail in their armors and that the swan knigths from the TATW are largerly fanmade with some inspiration from the old miniatures of the lotr tabletop.

The reason I prefer the full armor and like the TATW design is because the regular soldiers of gondor have access to plate armor so it makes sense that the knights too should at least have something on par with them.
I am not asking to copy TATW`s design, just that the knights should be shown with heavier armor.
The concept art you showed from jacksons team for example is stellar for me. Their armor and tabard as well as the colour palette looks fantastic and I think they would look much better following that route.

I got your point guys. That's my vision of unit.
Fortunately it's easy to give knights plate mail instead of current armour because units are modular and you can play with it like with lego.
That's my author's view on the gondor roster and I'll keep knights as they are but I love modders so making a submod with unit you want to see will take 2-3 minutes.
According to this, either I or any other guy who would want it, can make their own version of Swan Knight and release it as a submod within RoM. You don't need to ask permission for this as long as credits are given.

    Hopefully it's a good compromise.
