The fifteen year old Lord of Karhold, Thoren Karstark, arrives with only his 100-strong personal guard. He seeks to speak to Lord Stark.
The Lord of Karhold was welcomed into Winterfell, brought through its frigid halls to the personal solar of the Lord Stark. Within Eddard sat in his father's seat, Ned was only four years older than Thoren.. but the past months traumas had forced him into a lordship and into manhood. Lord Karstark. Ned began. Good to see you've come to avenge the murder of your lord and his heir. Ned's uncle eyed the Karstark youth with his good eye, the other concealed beneath a patch. How many men have you brought to the cause, Lord Thoren? Themuch older man waited for a reply.

"That is why I come, my Lord," said Thoren nervously, "I come without men. I mean, only my personal guard. One hundred men. My uncle has taken the Navy, you see, and our forces by sea and means to strike the royalists on the Sisters. To secure the Bite for our cause, my Lord. Karhold contributes 3,200 men and 49 ships to the war, but they are not coming to Winterfell, my Lord. But they serve nonetheless!"
Your uncle.. took your men? Ned asked, quizzically. Last I had heard Thoren Karstark, not Edwin, was Lord of Karhold. Ned waved it off dismissively. Tell me, why does your uncle sail against the Sisters? Do they march in Aery's name? The last interaction I had with Sistertons was rather.. pleasant. His fingers gently strummed at his father's wooden desk.
[OOC: The Sisters rolled as loyalists so you can amend whatever backstory you need. Ned was almost arrested on the Sisters, so you can simply have it that the argument continued after he left and eventually they decided on the King.]
"No, my Lord," he said quickly, "What I mean is, I approved the plan. The Sisters have declared for Aerys, my Lord. I am not a seafarer, so I placed my uncle in command of the expedition. I came here to send you word, and will resume command of my forces when they make landfall after bringing the Sisters to heel."
[OOC: Ah, I thought they were neutral like they were in lore. The whole "if you lose you were never here" thing. The roll also wasn't clear, because all it said was "remain on their islands" which I thought meant neutrality.]
Hmm, those three thousand men could make all the difference here on the continent. Ned remarked, thoughtfully. But securing the watery bridge between us and my friends in the Vale is important to securing both our borders. He turned to his uncle, the One Eyed. Send word White Harbor their fleet is to link with that of the Karstarks, uncle. I won't lose half the Northern fleet to poor planning.
