Thread: Ravens of the Kingdoms (Robert's Rebellion)

Default Ravens of the Kingdoms (Robert's Rebellion)

As per this decision, the "Ravens" thread is being belatedly replaced with this thread. This thread is to be used for everything that would be considered public knowledge, such as a marriage announcement, Tournament announcement, or invitations to a feast.

Please note that the following rules apply to sending ravens:

    - Within your own 'Kingdom' (eg inside the Reach) = 1 hour (that is roughly 2 days ingame)

    - To neighbouring Kingdoms (eg Westerlands to Riverlands or Reach) = 7 hours (2 weeks ingame)

    - Over every 'Kingdom' afterwards = 7 more hours (eg Dorne to North is Dorne > Stormlands > Crownlands > Riverlands > North, or 4 'hops', so 4*7 = 28 hours, or 2 months ingame)

New quickly travels through the Westerlands - especially in the South, along the Westerlands-Reach Border - of the establishment of the knightly Order of the Crimson Boar in Crakehall.

Appointed Lord Commander of this Order is Ser Bronn Crakehall.

Variants of a certain letter are sent to Riverrun, to Storm's End, to Winterfell, Highgarden, and Casterly Rock, allegedly copying the demand made on Jon Arryn, Lord of the Eyrie, by King Aerys II: deliver the heads of Eddard Stark and Robert Baratheon. The letter is intended to be proliferated to vassals if the recipients wish.

The letter actually written by Maester Colemon (in Jon's words) is quite clean, concise, and short, simply stating when the letter arrived, how it arrived, from who it arrived, and after which event it arrived - the "trial" of Rickard and Brandon Stark. The rest of the parchment is, ostensibly, a word-for-word copy of the letter sent from King's Landing to the Eyrie, adding none and subtracting none.

To all recipients, it presents the idea that Jon Arryn has been presented with only two choices: defiance or the murder of his own foster children.

Tytos Lannister is dead! In the wake of his death, a power struggle has erupted among his sons for control of Casterly Rock.

    Tywin and Tygett Lannister

Although largely absent from the Westerlands while serving as Hand of the King, Tywin's reputation precedes him. His ruthless handling of the Reyne and Tarbeck rebellion was notorious. Although brutally handled, nobody could say Tywin was outside his rights to punish his sworn men for their rebellion as heir to the Rock. Tywin's rule would undoubtedly be a period of dominance, centralized control, and unity within the Westerlands, and his claim to the Rock is the strongest. Under Tywin, the rule of law would be followed and enforced to the letter. A proven military commander, some might doubt whether or not Kevan could best Tywin on the field. Tygett Lannister has supported Tywin's claim, preferring to stick to the strict letter of the succession laws.

Kevan's claim to the Rock is no doubt weaker than Tywin's claim. BUt when Tytos proved unfit to rule, and while Tywin was off playing the game of thrones in King's Landing, Kevan ruled the Rock, and he ruled it well. Any who would support a lighter touch in the Westerlands might think Kevan a better candidate. He does not hold onto power with an iron grip, preferring to rely on counsel and reaching decisions by concordance as opposed to brute strength and authority. Only few could claim Kevan was arbitrary, but he was an untested entity militarily. Gerion Lannister has supported his claim, not least of all to annoy Tywin.

Tywin's faction has gathered at Casterly Rock while Kevan's faction has occupied Lannisport.

For their service and relations to House Stark, the Lord of Flint's Keep is named High Chief of the Mountains of the North, in all military matters. However those matters of internal disputes between clans will still be settled by Winterfell.
