    Default 1.2 Mac Troubleshooting

    EDIT: Now it suddenly stopped working...



    I was disappointed to find that 1.2 wasn't working for me on Mac (at least the grand campaign) because it looks so great. Dresden noted that they didn't know why it wasn't working for us, so I figured I'd start a thread to note what is and what is not working for Mac players.

    I downloaded 1.1 version of the Mac compatibility submod (the People of Rome version): http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showt...y-(No-Reforms)

    This produced the following results in the grand campaign:



    Factions (Grand Campaign)

    Working:
    • Rome


    Not Working:
    • Carthage
    • Atropatene
    • Seleucids


    New Features

    Working:
    • Population System


    Not Working:
    • The Year in History


    This is obviously very incomplete, but I'll keep updating it in the hopes that the DEI team can get it working for Mac players as soon as possible.

    Thanks for doing this, if you want I can post some packs for you to test and see what may be causing it. We had some internal MAC testers and from what we could tell, its the startpos file that is doing this. Which makes no sense, because AE used to work and we used their files.

    In the future I may work on a Mac version that uses AE's submod as a basis. Anyway, when I get some time I will post some packs for you to test that disable various parts of the mod (specific script files, etc) to see if we can narrow it down.

    I'd be happy to test packs. Whatever helps.


    So I got the grand campaign working twice in a row with rome and the POR Mac Compatibility submod from 1.1

    But then I quit to desktop and tried to start a new campaign and starting or loading caused ctd again.

    Haven't been able to replicate the first success, but maybe this points to a file that changes during play? (like preferences or something?.. Idk, i don't know much about the file structure because i can't open pack files on my mac.

    hey, I was one of the members of the testing group for 1.2 for mac, I may have some input here to help you out as well, we have noted that the GC isn't working, and determined that the stratpos tends to be what is causing it based on the fact that it worked while using vanilla settings, now did you use the 1.1 version o the no reforms sub mod for mac? because I had not tried doing that, as well as when do you experience the CTD for grand campaign to see if we fail at the same point.

    Hi guys!
    Is there some news about playing the GC with 1.2 on mac (I couldn't make it work)?
    If this is possible, could you show what your user.script.txt looks like?
    I'm still having a blast with 1.1 (thanks so much!) but waiting for 1.2 to start a new campaign.

    These are some packs I had you test once, we can see how they are now that 1.2 is more complete.

    Test pack 1 -

    Load those before the main mod and separately (not together). If either one of them allows you to load the grand campaign, let me know which one.

    I tried the 1,1 version. It worked once for Rome but then I couldn't get it to work again. Trying the new packs today. I got the CTD near the end of the load.

    Test 2 worked for me too. (Still alive and testing )
    The guy who used to test DeI and FotE on Mac.

    Obviously, it's on the old map, with the old startpos, but it's better than nothing. Has anyone tried to see if the reforms work?

    Its the vanilla startpos. I have no idea why it works and ours doesnt. Also the AE one seems to work - and we used AE's work as a basis for ours. I can't figure out what we could have possibly changed that would make it not work.

    To make a Mac submod we may be able to use AE's startpos as a basis. I wouldn't use that pack I uploaded, its a vanilla startpos so it has none of our AOR tags, etc
