Thread: [Farewell]True Legions for True Romans / Obsolete

  1. #1

    Default [Farewell]True Legions for True Romans / Obsolete

    Salve Friends, Romans, Citizens,

    True Legions project, Romans at the very center of work covers not only the Romans. Including nearly all units of Italian peninsula and some tiers of Carthaginian and Epirot units.

    To complete such a colossal task we introduce over +250 unique shield patterns and new scutum models for Romans, Italiots and Carthaginians.

    Our main goal is covering, enriching the looks of all Italian Peninsula units from Romans to Samnites to Etruscans give unique look and offer greater variety. That means there'll be more updates and more units to cover in time. Majority of the work is already done. And you'll notice the changes when you're campaigning in Italian Peninsula with or without Playing the Romans.

    The Enemies of Rome preview is the clearly shows what we try to achieve with covering Italian rivals and allies and close threats to Roman expansion,

    http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showt...e-Update/page4

    Majority of the work is finished but modding is a never ending journey. As part of quality control, feedbacks and adding new stuff we'll keep updating the mod and seek for new oppurtunities to make the project even better.

    I hope you like the work and thanks for your support fellow friends,

    Regards,

    Thanks for posting the resources, its appreciated. I believe we have some work going with some of these units already, but more resources are always a good thing to have as sharing is a valuable part of this great modding community. I will forward the thread to our unit folks to check out!

    Eventually, this would probably be better in the submod forum as an optional resource for those who may want to use it, so I will move it there after a bit here.

    @Dresden,
    Thank you, i was thinking making a submod for the work but i'm not particularly familiar with the file structure, variantmeshes etc. (techy part) of DeI. Consider the pack as an open source pool for your team.

    @KAM2150
    O' kurwa! Thanks a lot mate! Glad to hear that!

    Love Solitudo´s Hastati Romani shields, they look awesome!
    With this new paintjob you gave them, they look even better

    But something I noticed whilst playing AE was that they often clip when units use any combat_ready anim files.
    Would it be possible to slightly change the way they are held?
    Like the WoS Aspides are held more obliquely than the original ones.

    This is just amazing i hope at least some of this information makes it back into the base mod!

    The Carthaginian units definitely deserve an appearance in the mod, as do many of the Italic infantry units.

    Moved to submod forum - a resource for those who may use this for future submods.

    I am not sure what will be used in the main mod and when, since we are in the middle of working on 1.2 right now. So, this is a good resource for those who may want to use it.

    I think i'll take the initiative dig deep into DeI files and make this pack as a submod for DeI,

    Thank you guys, your kind words and compliments mean a lot

    I would recommend waiting a few days as we are about to release 1.2 open beta within a week or so hopefully. And the new pack is WAY better organized.

    Just a tech question,

    How should i name the pack to activate my pack as a submod?

    For example:

    @leg_peninsula
    _leg_peninsula

    Thanks in advance guys,
    LL

    Doesn't matter as long as it's higher in the list than the main mod. So in this case @ probably works better, since the main files start with _divide.

    Thanks for the lead my friend,

    That's quite strange,

    I've tried probably countless name combinations. For example:

    @_divide_leg.pack
    @leg_12.pack
    @_divide_leg_12.pack

    etc.

    And mod file structure is properly ready, even double checked everything

    But somehow whether i change the pack name and tried different combinations result is always the same

    Hmmm... that doesn't appear to be an issue with the load order. It looks like you are indeed overwriting DeI's shield patterns, but yours aren't being applied for some reason. I'd guess there's a problem somewhere in how the shields are assigned to the units, but I don't really know.

    It was goddamn decals!

    First phase released guys,

    All tested and such!

    Hope you enjoy,

    For whom liked the mod please would you take couple action shots?

    Thank you!

    My god that looks sexy. Didn't wanna play the Romans in DEI 1.2 until the Named and Numbered Legions mod works but hat to try this out.

    I nearly never take screenshots but here are a few

    Skirmish Phase begins

    Hastati fire a volley

    Carthage Cav getting hit by a volley

    Cavalary engagement supported by Rorarii

    The lines engage each other

    Bloody man to man combat

    Equites charge in the back

    Hastati fleeing the battle field, Triarii not joining combat yet

    Equites charging down archers

    Triarii charging in

    No one can withstand rome's finest men

    Always happy to oblige!
    It seems I made a mistake, it wasn´t the combat ready, but the normal stand_idle and walk animations.

    Since most of these happen in proximity to the right edge of the shield (from the soldiers position), may I suggest slightly increasing the angle they are held at?
    Like the WoS Aspides, but to a lesser degree.

    I also think it has to do how tightly the shields are held to the wearers body,
    since vanilla shields are held at a little more distance.

    Best regards
