A letter is delivered by a messenger boy carrying the seal of Consul Lepidus.
Salve Pro Consul Milo,
Recently the senate passed a series of bills that reforms our tax system. One of these bills includes that the pro consulates need to inquire how much their respective provinces can pay yearly. Based on these reports the senate will name a figure which needs to be collected and paid annually. We hope to hear from you soon.
Signed,
Consul Marcus Aemilius Lepidus.
D20 x 1,000
18,000 possible in taxes
A messenger arrives, bearing a letter for the Pro-Consul.
Salve, Pro-Consul Milo,
The Senate has determined the tax for your province shall be twenty five percent of it's assessed value. The Quaestor assigned to your province can handle arranging transportation.
Quaestor Mergus
A message arrives:
Brother,
The Senate is divided regarding a proposal of senator Lucius Cornelius Scipio. He wants to cleanse Crete and Lycia of pirates, with two legions and at his own expense; all the loot would be returned to Rome. I don't know what vote to cast this time, brother: both consuls this year support the initiative, but Albinus rejects it on the usual ground of Gods haven't sanction the war. Iulus, Scipio's worst enemy, staunchly mantains a negative both, along some of his cronies; I wouldn't like to look aligned with his faction, being a praetor this year.
I seek your advice,
Sextus.
Yet another letter,
Brother,
Sulpicianus has been killed in the comitia. I don't quite know what happened but a riot left hundreds dead. Clouds gather over our heads and I remain as the only Milo at Rome.
Sextus.
A letter arrives from Rome requesting the provincial quaestor send the 25% tax assessed on the province's income be sent to Rome.
the taxes are 25500 this year
