Saw this guys vid reviewing this mod and I am really excited for it. This guy did a good job showing the mod off and giving some addons for the mod guy. Check this guy out.

Not sure if its any help to you, but I have been doing some research on Google about the American Civil War, and collected a shed-load of links to YouTube documentaries about the various battles, famous figures, battlefields from various perspectives (generally Civil War Trust Battlefields presented by Park Rangers and various other specialist speakers, with my focus to begin with on Gettysburg, but prepared in folder for many other main ACW Battles to later be included, such is my fascination with this era).
Along the way Slyk, I have been collecting links to Fife and Drum music for the time, which I question if it be possible to incorporate into battlefield sounds for the various regiments in the game, quite a few of which you already have, but I think I have some others here not so far included). Would you be interested in me sending you the folder containing the links, would it be of any help or interest. I am aware that further back in this thread, there were some comments about taking this music out, or wanting to silence fife and drums when a unit is supposedly hidden. I agree with the latter, but not the former because I believe the sound of the music provides immersion, and if the player doesnt want to hear it they can always zoom out or find a fix for it. I personally think it should remain.
One other observation I have picked up on whilst playing the Gettysburg map (which I think is superb) is that there is a numerical "5" floating above one of the hilltops (I believe this to be Big RoundTop). Wasnt sure if it is in there for future reference and developments to the map or just something that has been missed.
@Marshal Blucher
Thats the wrong North&South Mod you are writing in. Your screenshot shows Shogun 2 and the gettysburg map for Shogun 2 was not made by an offical member of any of the NaS mods
Sorry you are quite right, this map was by an author named mconnalley
I just checked that out. However, it works well with the North and South 2 game. Have you got any links to other maps that are currently available through the steam downloads, I have searched around and got a few but there is not that much there.
Further questions about the NaS II for Shogun 2 please in the correct forum - this is the North&South Mod for Napoleon Total War
So why is this refered to in the above title as" North & South: American Civil War 2.0 New Maps, New Units, Bug Fixes, and MORE!!!!".
I kknow there is a thread already for the NTW version but that has always been refered to (as far as I can see) as North & South: American Civil War or North & South: American Civil War 1.0. This appeared to be associated with the Shogun 2 or I thought so. If it is not, can you please supply the link for the Shogun 2 version in this forum because I cant see any other than this.
Primergy please forget last request for link. Perhaps the header though in this thread should be changed to reflect it is not associated with the Shogun 2 version if this is not in fact a carry on from that. Looks like I have got a lot more catching up to do, but still left a bit confused after all the preceding content in this thread.
Blucher, you need to pay attention to the game and sub forum you are in. Furthermore, there is a lot of confusion overall because there are at least three N & S mods for the different games. I am considering a re branding of this MOD to clear that up.
As for music, I am more inclined to remove or reduce sound files than add it change. I plan to remove the fife files and related models...actually, I have removed all fife playing soldier models from the scenarios. It's annoying while moving in woods and cause to many issues.

Yes Slyk I made a mistake regarding the author of the Gettysburg V3 map that I downloaded direct from Steam and accept that. However being told to "pay more attention to the game and sub forum you are in" doesnt exactly win friends. I am not a schoolboy. I have followed this thread based on the fact it is clearly marked;
North & South: American Civil War 2.0 New Maps, New Units, Bug Fixes, and MORE
from the very first entry, and given the more current dates on it, it was my belief that you had picked up the reins of what Primergy had been working on, held up by his Uni studies till September 2017, and I have also sympathized in you having to carry out much of this work so far as a solo effort as you keep saying, hence my contributions and offers to help in some small way where I could, although my knowledge of the programming side of things as I have said is one level below zero!!.
ACW 2 sounds very much like ACW II as a title, and I can see now they refer to different items, but then again, the titles are clearly ambiguous unless you know precisely what you are looking for. No wonder there is confusion over the various threads for the three different games if the title is not clear, precise, and totally reflective of the content ie perhaps North and South American Civil War 1.0 (for NTW) completions or similar, may have made the matter clearer.
I have this evening ploughed through the thread entered correctly by Primergy as North and South II and noted he had mentioned therein you were finishing off the NTW version, and with this info I am comfortable with the fact that yours is not the thread I should have been contributing to, and I regret that, but please dont try to shift the blame onto me totally if you have neither titled this thread correctly in the first instance or corrected it since, aware of the confusion presently existing. I therefore suggest that you should definitely consider re-branding this mod as you put it as a matter of urgency, to prevent others making the same mistake. I wish you success in the remaining task to complete this project, but please be a little more tolerant of others who are strangers in this venture to modding.
Ok, now is all said and we can return back to Slyks impressive work on the historical battle maps
Blucher, I think the first thing I would have noticed is that NTW did not load the map, it was Shogun. And the art is totally different. The mod names cause confusion, certainly, especially out in youtube land where many people are clueless about facts of each mod and only look at "oooh-isms". I am not blaming anyone, but as the user I would have thought you would notice the difference. I would personally have assumed Primergy had made that map for his Shogun mod.
Back to updates.... pending more show and tell on units soon and map list updated now.
Map in progress: Fort Wagner
These are in-game testing and development shots just to show some of the terrain around the fort. As an earthwork fort, I have a lot of terrain editing to polish, buildings to place for bomb-proofs, etc. We have limited access to assets in NTW for obstructions, etc., so I'll do what I can with what elements are available. I am planning new faction armies for both the Union and Confederates... something like: "Union Coastal Assault Forces" and "Confederate Coastal Defense Forces". There will be special cannon/mortars for both of these forces. Immobile single guns with larger crews that you must place in your deployment phase. The 54th Massachusetts will return to the mod, as well as the availability of the U.S. Colored Infantry units.
I'll be adding these artillery at the risk of players using them in any MP map, so I will have to evaluate that versus creating an Historical Scenario for 'just' those units. Testing will prove some of this out, but ass-hats will be ass-hats ;p
the battle of New Market??? never heard of that battle before but cool
Visit civilwar.org and spend some time looking through the maps and articles. It is a very good site that is always being updated. You will find a lot of the base maps here that I used as reference along with items from the Loc.gov, the Library of Congress site.
Hi there, big fan of 1.0. One of my favorite TW mods of all time so far and I play a hell of a lot of TW. Just have a minor suggestion/request for the upcoming 2.0 release.
In another Napoleon mod that I really enjoy, NTW3, one of the more subtle changes they made was both greatly increasing the speed and flattening the trajectory of artillery projectiles on the battlefield. Its actually pretty noticeable and a lot more immersive when cannonballs are flying at a more true to life muzzle velocity and not being lobbed in a rainbow arc towards the enemy at what looks like 100mph or less. Obviously this doesn't apply to howitzers and mortars. Would love to hear your thoughts.
