Information Thread for Potential New Dark Elf Units
The Dark Elves are one of the three elven civilisations. They are the descendants of those who supported prince Malekith in his failed bid to ascend to the Phoenix Throne of Ulthuan. When Malekith was rejected and burned alive by the Flames of Asuryan, his followers fled from Ulthuan to the western continent of Naggaroth. There, ruled by Malekith who they now know as the Witch King, they become a cruel and bitter slaving nation sustained by constant raids on the younger races and their cousins on Ulthuan. Six millennia on, their ancestral feud against the High Elves has not ended. Their many attempts to retake Ulthuan have since been thwarted but Malekith's ambition remains unchanged; his fortunes may yet change.

Their eyes were like shadowed pools, depthless and dark, and their full lips moved, whispering words of power that he could feel pulsing against his skin. CultsSpoiler Alert, click show to read:Elven culture is suffused in mysticism and magic, and Elves believe their Gods surround them and are a part of them. An Elf considers his every action, his every thought, to be mystical in some respect, and therefore everything they do is somehow connected to the Gods, every action is a devotion in its own right. It is unclear how the Elves worship their Gods or what rituals and ceremonies they might undertake. Some speculate that given the Elves live such a long time any way, how they regard these beings is necessarily different from the ways Humans and other short-lived races might perceive them.
The deities of the Elves are divided into the Cadai, the Gods of the Heavens, and the Cytharai, the Gods of the Underworld. While the Dark Elves give higher prominence to the latter, and the High Elves give higher prominence to the former, the Wood Elves worship both equally, with the highest attention given to the aforementioned Kurnous and Isha.

Addaioth, the All-Consuming FlameSpoiler Alert, click show to read:The Bringer of Wrath and Fire is a being of monstrous pride and unbridled power. When Ellinill set about devouring his offspring, most fled or attempted to hide. Addaioth did neither, but met his ebon sire in battle. Atharti, the Lady of DesireSpoiler Alert, click show to read:Atharti is the Elven Goddess of Pleasure and Seduction, often depicted as a masked figure entwined with blood-red snakes. She has a profound rivalry with her sister Hekarti, and each has made many attempts to slay the other. The Lady of Desire is a mistress of all forms of seduction, and the very sight of her is said to cause mortals to collapse in complete and unquestioning abasement. For this reason, those Naggarothi who infiltrate High Elf society count Atharti amongst their foremost patrons, for only she can unlock the hearts and minds of those they wish to corrupt.

Drakira, Queen of VengeanceSpoiler Alert, click show to read:Drakira, the Queen of Vengeance, is the Elven Goddess of Retribution, and daughter of Ellinill, Lord of Destruction. No affection binds them, for theirs was ever a family bound together only by a shared delight in the suffering they could inflict upon the mortal Elves. Indeed, Drakira was often mocked by her brothers and sisters, for theirs was the power to wreak destruction on a grand scale, whilst hers were subtler gifts whose wicked fruits bloomed only with patient tending.

Eldrazor, Lord of BladesSpoiler Alert, click show to read:Eldrazor, the Lord of Blades, is the Elven God of Battle. Obsessed with the skilful arts of war, he still seldom ranks high amongst his pantheon, for many Dark Elves--outside the legendary Sisters of Slaughter--scorn his reluctance to fight save in the pursuit of honour. However, once Eldrazor decides to fight, he does so without mercy.

Ellinill, Lord of DestructionSpoiler Alert, click show to read:Ellinill is the Elven god of Disaster, and the Lord of Destruction. Together with his children, they form the Ellinilli. Legends tell that Ellinill once had more than one hundred offspring, each of whom had inherited an aspect of his destructive nature. Together, father and progeny inflicted all manner of disasters upon the world, reveling in the harm they unleashed upon the Elves. Ellinill was proud of his children, but he was also paranoid, and worried that they might conspire to supplant him. Individually, the offspring were no match for their sire, but the Lord of Destruction was wary of their combined power, and so watched them closely.
http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Ellinill
Ellinill Corsairs = However, the Dark Elves worship of Ellinill is not so peaceful. From towering cliffs and upon the decks of their ships, the Druchii sacrifice living creatures to bring safe passage for their Black Arks or to unleash a tempest upon their enemies. Often Corsairs will chain some of their captured slaves to the prows of their ships in appeasement of Ellinill.
http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Ellinill
Priest of Ellinill = Some shrines to Ellinill are built over deep, lava-filled chasms in the mountains of Naggaroth. These pillared temples resonate with the chanting of priests and the screams of captives as they are hurled into the fiery depths in exchange for favours from the Lord of Destruction.

Ereth Khial, the Pale QueenSpoiler Alert, click show to read:Ereth Khial is the supreme goddess of the Underworld, with her son, Nethu, its guardian. Long ago she attempted to seduce Asuryan and, when he resisted her, she grew enraged, stole the souls of the dead and hid them in the black pit, Mirai. The Pale Queen has never forgotten Asuryan's slight. Whilst he lies beyond her power, the Elves do not, so it is they who suffer Ereth Khial's wrath. Should a Waystone be destroyed, Ereth Khial sends the wraith-like rephallim to seize what souls they may, and bear them away to dwell in Mirai in eternal torment.
http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Ereth_Khial
Priest of Ereth Khial = Such obsessions must perforce be kept secret, for the worship of Ereth Khial is widely considered the sign of a diseased or ill-adjusted mind. Those marked by the Pale Queen's touch are inevitably exiled or imprisoned should their terrible secrets be laid bare, yet her priests and celebrants have never been entirely eradicated from Ulthuan's shores.
http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Ereth_Khial
Rephallim = Creatures devoted to Ereth Khial who harvest souls of elves, they are wraith-like beings with wings.
http://whfb.lexicanum.com/wiki/Ereth_Khial
Shadow Legions of Ereth Khial = This is not to say all the Elves who have ever died now labour in Ereth Khial's service, since countless souls remain bound to waystones and trees, and greater still have been devoured by the Dark Prince. Yet still, year after year, the Pale Queen's army grows. One day, her shadow legions will tear down Asuryan's vaunted creation in payment for his insults of old.

Like every good father, Ellinill harbored a deep suspicion for all his children, whose power flowed from him, but he worried that they would join forces, which would give them enough power to overthrow him. It's said that was that mistrust the lever that Loec had to move to end the reign of terror of Ellinill.

Khaela Mensha Khaine, the Bloody-Handed GodSpoiler Alert, click show to read:Khaine is worshipped most fanatically by the Dark Elves. In their society, the Cult of Khaine is the most powerful religious cult, and regularly makes bloody sacrifices of slaves and even other Dark Elves. The initiates of this cult are the Witch Elves, who consider themselves the "brides of Khaine" and are led by the Hag Queens. The Cauldrons of Blood that the Dark Elves use are regularly adorned with large statues of Khaine. Additionally, on Death Night, the Witch Elves freely roam Dark Elf cities with impunity, killing all they find.

Malus saw ram’s horns sprouting from the forehead of one warrior, while another stared at the highborn with a single, catlike eye set in the centre of his forehead. Another man had two heads upon his neck, one broad and flat-nosed and the other shrivelled, scaly and bestial. The animals paid no heed at all to the cold one in their midst; sired from thoroughbred stock brought from drowned Nagarythe, the dark steeds were foaled in the sorcerous stables of Naggarond itself, and feared neither man nor beast. The Royal Hydra = Lord Malekith believes in rewarding his subjects for successes in war. When word reaches him of a stunning victory, or a great feat of carnage wrought by one of his War Hydra’s and its team of Beastmaster apprentices, the Witch King will summon them all to Naggarond. There, the beast masters will engage in a two-week binge of decadence in Malekith’s palace. They eat the finest foods, and drink the rarest wines, all of which have dark blessings from the Witch King himself. On the final night of revelry, Malekith casts a final spell upon them and they are led to the royal bestiary where their Hydra awaits. It is a great honour that Lord Malekith himself, the rightful ruler of all Elvenkind, commands their Hydra to devour them both alive. It is then that the dark energies woven over the fortnight take full effect. Howls of agony echo throughout Naggarond as the Hydra is warped by the Witch King’s sorcery. The creature’s blood transforms into a powerful acid, and protective plates of bone burst through its hide. Every mutation is unique, but the resulting creature (along with a new beast master team) will stay in the Witch King’s personal bestiary until it dies or is sent to one of Malekith’s generals. Has armour plates for more defence, acid breath and if it is wounded acid blood spills over the attackers.

The Spellthirster = Beastmaster Rakarth once fought a particularly bitter battle against the traitorous High Elves of Ulthuan. e led an army in which he had amassed the largest force of War Hydras in Druchii history. With 9 of the mighty beasts at his command, he predicted a swift victory. The wizards Liandus, Ellyunnor and Aliana, however, accompanied the enemy. Within minutes, their combined magical barrage had whittled the Hydra’s number down to three; two of which broke and fled the field. Rakarth vowed never to be defeated by High magic again, and forged a pact with Morathi. She spun her spells over the surviving Hydra, known as Daerlythe, or ‘Burning Fury’. Dark magic mutated the creature tremendously. Daerlythe’s skin began to glow with burning blue-black energy; and great rents opened in his flesh where Morathi had ritually carved dread runes. During his next appearance on the battlefield it was found that he was physically weakened but had also developed a strong resistance to magic, especially High Magic. A breeding program was soon established, and Daerlythe was retired from battle. To this day only one in ten of his offspring shares his abilities. It has only three heads, and it has an aura that gives magic resistance to nearby Dark Elves but also High Spells get rebound towards the caster.

Mere-witches = ”As he watched, one of the figures rolled onto its back and regarded him with wide, almond-shaped eyes. Malus caught a glimpse of pale, almost luminous skin, a smooth belly and small, round breasts. An eerily druchii-like face broke the surface with barely a ripple, water gleaming on high, sharp cheekbones and blue-tinged lips. Aaaahhh, it seemed to sigh, a thin, wavering sound, then back it sank into the depths, its lithe body surrounded by sinuous strands of indigo-coloured hair.” It’s later mentioned that the strands of hair are really saw-edged tentacles.
