Congrats to Ponting and the lads for dishing out an absolute thumping to the POMs. How sweet it is

Yeah, it's been a pretty **** day for cricket all around - NZ loses against Sri Lanka and Australia wins the ashes.

Well you see it was quite evident Warney would through a temper-tantrum if he didn't get some wickets soon, so the England tail very kindly rolled over and consequently let you borrow the Ashes for another two years. We'll be taking them back after then of course. By then you won't have the dad's army chuntering away in the middle, but a rabble of whippersnappers who can swing and miss like the best of us englishmen.

    *cough* Australia rocks *cough*

When did anyone ever doubt we wouldn't win?

We felt it sporting (and profitable) to let the poms win last time, this years' series actually attracted crowds in Australia...remarkable...of course the spectre of two dead rubbers hangs over marketer's heads like a cloud of death.

Apart from Bell, Pietersen, Cook and good old Monty Panesar, England didn't perform in this series. We missed the leadership of Vaughan, the devestatng swing attack quartet of Harmsion, Hoggard, Flintoff and Jones. Harmison has been in really bad form. Im frankly not surprised we lost.

Well done though Aussies, shame the series wasn't as good as the last one, that was an extraordinary series.

Ahem? *Cough* Paul *Cough* Collingwood *Cough*....

The Aussies may be "Dad's Army", but the pommies fought with he ferocity and spine of the French Army circa 1939...

Still, I believe the Aussies were missing something with the absence of Jason "Dizzy" Gillespie, I know he too is getting on a bit, but he is such a champ. Tell me how many night-watchmen have a double 100 next to their batting record?

England were mostly poor though, Monty being the exception

Wonder how the next two tests will go

    Clean sweep?

That pommy tool Ian Botham declared prior to the first Test that the Aussie team were 'geriatrics' and were in for a potential flogging.

Amazing what Aussie geriatrics can do, hey?

I see a potential 5-0 slaughter on the horizon.....

the thing is, hitting something and running is very much a part of the criminal psyche - hence the aussies are good at cricket.

Im a little confused about the ashes. Last year when england won, didnt their entire team become knighted or something by the queen? However the australian team gets nothing. australia is part of the commonwealth so shouldn't our team be knighted too? :hmmm:
