Information Thread for Potential New Chaos Dwarf Units

Malign, dark-souled and merciless, the Uzkul-Dhrazh-Zharr, Dawi Zharr, or Chaos Dwarfs as they are known in legend to the other peoples of the world, are a warrior race of Daemon-smiths and craftsmen, slavers and brutal killers that dominate the northern reaches of the Dark Lands and have done so for thousands of years. Their history is an ancient and terrible one, a saga of a great and hardy people whose nobility would become warped into utter malice, and whose stubborn refusal to die would lead them down a dark and bitter path to damnation.

    Hobgoblins
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
Assassin = Within their tribes and clans they seem to form a rather twisted society where back-stabbing, assassination, and use of poison is considered perfectly legitimate and often is a celebrated or distinguishable way of advancing in their society.

Khan = These skulking killers can prove useful for marshalling their kin, but should they prove too successful and be seen as even the remotest threat to their masters' dominance, they will most likely end up impaled over their lord's gatepost as a reminder to others of the rewards of getting ideas above their station.
    http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Hobgoblin_Khan

Overseers = The Chaos Dwarfs long ago realised the hobgoblins were a servile, craven, malevolent and generally despised race, and so adopted them as lackeys and minions - in particular as slave masters, overseers, and tribute-collectors.

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
Harridans = ”The other humans were busy fighting the robed acolytes. Each of the bald dwarfs had seized a heavy hammer and followed their thegn into battle. The northmen were shocked to find that their foes were women. Dwarf mothers too old to produce children, their only purpose now was to defend the temple of their unforgiving god. They wielded their hammers with the maddened zeal of fanatics, the burned stumps of their tongues wriggling in silent cries of hate. Seldom had the veteran marauders ever battled foes who fought with such crazed disregard for their own lives as these viragos.”

    http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Infernal_Guard

Deathmask Ironsworn = Infernal Ironsworn units follow the same principles and wear the same armour, but are only armed with ensorcelled hand weapons. They use naphtha bombs and pistols.
    http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Infernal_Guard

Expeditionary Warband = War bands and expeditionary armies of Chaos Dwarfs will often travel hundreds of miles in search of suitable living plunder, The more captives a raid brings back, the more successful it is judged, and the greater prestige and honour is accorded.
    http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wi...Dwarf_Warriors

Immortals = They are described as having black steel armour that is reinforced with solid plates of marble and granite. Their curled beards are protected by long sheathes of metal, and they carry large bladed axes, curved and deadly. The standard they march under is a golden bulls head, and they musician carries a drum made from a monstrous skull.
    http://www.chaos-dwarfs.com/wiki/ind...itle=Immortals

Infernal Fireglaives = The humiliation of such dishonour is more than the prideful Chaos Dwarfs can bear, and for them the Infernal Guard offers the solace of death in Hashut's grace and also anonymity, as upon taking its oath their names and past kinships are shorn away and their faces are seared and shut underneath red-hot iron and bronze masks. Wield axe and fireglaives.

Infernal Guard (Blunderbuss) = The humiliation of such dishonour is more than the prideful Chaos Dwarfs can bear, and for them the Infernal Guard offers the solace of death in Hashut's grace and also anonymity, as upon taking its oath their names and past kinships are shorn away and their faces are seared and shut underneath red-hot iron and bronze masks. Infernal Guard (Great Weapons) = Wield great axes.
    http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Infernal_Guard

Infernal Ironsworn = Infernal Ironsworn units follow the same principles and wear the same armour, but are only armed with ensorcelled hand weapons. These bring to battle the fire and suffering of the Chaos Dwarfs' dark realm forged into the very fabric of their blades, graven in smouldering runes of torment and death. Wield axe and shield but can also wield; blunderbuss, great weapons, fireglaives.
    http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Infernal_Guard

Mancatchers = ”The dwarfs did not hesitate when they saw the men standing before their gates, but continued to advance in a silent, forbidding column. Warhammer Heroes: Wulfrik by C. L. Werner - Chapter 7

Warriors = Warped by Chaos, these manifest all the most warlike qualities of their race but twisted to a new pitch of evil and insanity. Can wield; Great Weapons, Shields, Heavy Armour

    https://i.imgur.com/XVsU9ax.png White Dwarf 162

Warriors (Blunderbuss) = To them there are few greater pleasures than the bloody sundering of a foe be it by crushing axe-blow or the flesh-shredding volley of blunderbuss fire.
    http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wi...Dwarf_Warriors
    https://i.imgur.com/XVsU9ax.png White Dwarf 162

Warriors (Shield) = Their livery is bright and bloody, and their distorted faces, if they are seen at all, are bestial and filled with malice. Their presence is intended to inspire fear in their foes, and they have lost none of the toughness or skill-at-arms of their western kin.

    Blunderbuss Ammunition Types
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
The blunderbuss fires shards of spiked iron at the enemy, though it can also fire hot coals, lead shot, scrap metal and even stones if need be.
    https://i.imgur.com/JWw5N3H.png White Dwarf 163

Hot Coals = Potentially creates a smokescreen effect with limited damage as well, or a fire effect.
    https://i.imgur.com/JWw5N3H.png White Dwarf 163

Lead Shot = Possibly a less accurate, but with more widespread damage than the usual attack.
    https://i.imgur.com/JWw5N3H.png White Dwarf 163

Scrap Metal = Not sure how this would differ from the others.
    https://i.imgur.com/JWw5N3H.png White Dwarf 163

Stones = Possibly less armour piercing but inflicts more damage?
    https://i.imgur.com/JWw5N3H.png White Dwarf 163

AUTHOR NOTE: The above ideas for how each ammo variant works is just that, an idea. If you add these you will have to judge for yourself how they would function. I should also point out that the Chaos Dwarfs would likely employ other more exotic ammunition, but I have no evidence to support this theory beyond my own gut instinct. I would say that sorcerous ammunition types or warpstone shot might work, but again, no evidence.

    Hobgoblins
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
Archers = Hobgoblins, given the choice, which they rarely have, favour razor-sharp curved blades - all the better to stab their foes in the back with and watch the blood flow, but if pressed into direct battle, they prefer whenever possible to fight from a distance using crude bows and then to pounce on an unwary or crippled foe.

Backstabbers = Of all Goblin kind Hobgoblins are highly regarded as the most devious, cowardly, treacherous and outright murderous, and are utterly distrusted even by their fellow Greenskins. These backstabbers habitually go around armed with all manner of man-stikkas, blades, daggers and razors.
    http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wi...lin_Cutthroats

Cutthroats = Of all Goblin kind Hobgoblins are highly regarded as the most devious, cowardly, treacherous and outright murderous, and are utterly distrusted even by their fellow Greenskins. These cutthroats habitually go around armed with all manner of man-stikkas, blades, daggers and razors.
    http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wi...lin_Cutthroats

Raiders = The Emperors of Cathay built the the Great Bastion -- a thousand mile long wall hundreds of feet high, which protects Cathay's northern borders from the worst hobgoblin or chaos incursions. Yet the Bastion itself is just simply far too large for the Grand Empire to completely garrison, so the occasional ravening bands of Hobgoblin raiders would break or scale the walls of the Bastion and cause havoc to the rice fields and villages that lie just beyond.
    http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Hobgoblin

Sneaky Gits = Sneaky Gits fight in battle with two long curved knives, ideally suited to their back stabbing methods. In battle they rely upon an envelopment tactic to catch their enemy off guard. The front rank of the formation keeps the enemy busy while the rear ranks dash round the sides to attack the enemy from the side or rear.
    http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wi...in_Sneaky_Gits

Tribute Collectors = The Chaos Dwarfs long ago realised the hobgoblins were a servile, craven, malevolent and generally despised race, and so adopted them as lackeys and minions - in particular as slave masters, overseers, and tribute-collectors.
    http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wi...lin_Cutthroats

Warriors = The Dwarfs of Zharr don't make much of an effort to equip their Hobgoblin troops on the basis that they are little more than battle fodder, and can be relied on to largely look after themselves (in other words, pilfer loot from the battlefield and each others).

Black Orcs = Many black orcs escaped into the Mountains of Mourn where their descendants remain to this day. The chaos dwarfs destroyed many black orcs, but they left some tribes free to roam the mountains so that they could recruit them as troops into their armies. Can wield axe and shield, great weapons.

    Slaves
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
Enslaved Goblins = By far the most common slaves in the Chaos Dwarf realm are Orcs and Goblins, and this is not simply because they are native to the Dark Lands and its bordering mountains, but also because they are hardy creatures who will often last the longest in the noxious fumes and murderous conditions under which they are made to labour.

Enslaved Humans = Humans too have their place among the slaves of the Chaos Dwarfs, as they are adaptable and quick-witted if though less durable than Greenskins and considerably more unpredictable.
    http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Chaos_Dwarf
    http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Human

Enslaved Elves = Unfortunate wretches of many races toil in the poisoned air and burning ash of Zharrduk, from mutilated elves flayed and bled to provide alchemical unguents to fettered and broken chaos beasts from the Northern Wastes harnessed for their immense strength and tolerance for injury.
    http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Chaos_Dwarf
    http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Elf

Enslaved Ogres = As do Ogres, who are valued for their raw power but always present a danger as their primitive, violent spirits can never be fully broken.
    http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Chaos_Dwarf
    http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Ogre

Enslaved Gnoblars = If they’ve enslaved Ogres then I expect they’ve enslaved gnoblars as well.

Enslaved Ungors = Unfortunate wretches of many races toil in the poisoned air and burning ash of Zharrduk, fettered and broken chaos beasts from the Northern Wastes harnessed for their immense strength and tolerance for injury. It doesn’t specifically mention them, but its a likely slave.

    http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Chaos_Dwarf
    http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Gor

Enslaved Giants = The chaos dwarfs have not been slow to take note of the power and military potential of Giants, as they have often encountered them as foes within the ranks of the Orc hordes that infest the Dark Lands. As a result sorcerers have long had the idea of bringing Giants that they were able to capture or enslave through trickery or trade with the Ogres under their will.

Enslaved “Chaos Beasts” = Unfortunate wretches of many races toil in the poisoned air and burning ash of Zharrduk, fettered and broken chaos beasts from the Northern Wastes harnessed for their immense strength and tolerance for injury. It doesn’t specifically mention what beasts they are, so they could be anything big and strong.

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
    Bull Centaurs
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
Bull Centaur = Warped and malign creatures, Bull Centaurs are twisted amalgams of Chaos Dwarf and ferocious bull in aspect, the unnatural fusion creating hulking, monstrous beasts far larger than either and filled with cannibalistic appetites. I view these as the smaller versions from the 4th edition of the tabletop game. Can wield hand weapons, shields, great weapons, two hand weapons.
    http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wi...entaur_Renders
    https://i.imgur.com/XVsU9ax.png White Dwarf 162

Bull Centaur Renders = They are hulking, savage creatures whose strength far exceeds that of a chaos dwarf, and thanks to their strange forms, they are far swifter in battle. As they age, their flesh hardens and distorts to the consistency of a living metal, and rather than heal naturally from injuries, they must instead rely upon their Sorcerer-masters to repair their wounds with poultices of molten mercury, steel sutures and brazen splints. I view these as the more recent models shown in forge world. Can wield hand weapons, shields, great weapons, two hand weapons.
    http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wi...entaur_Renders

Temple Guardians of Hashut = As well as serving as temple guardians, the Bull Centaurs are also entrusted with dangerous tasks by their masters who trust them implicitly. Can wield hand weapons, shields, great weapons, two hand weapons.

    Hobgoblins
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
Temple Dogs = ”During Tamurkhan's march south along the eastern side of the Mountains of Mourn, his lieutenant Sayl the Faithless attacked the Cathayan fortress of the Tower of Ashshair. There his forces confronted stone-fleshed Temple Dogs that swam down the jade walls of the tower and up through the rocky ground as if it were water.”

    http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Temple_Dogs

Wolf Archers = These raiders, all bandits and robbers by disposition, are if anything, even less reliable than their footslogging kin. This is outweighed by their usefulness as skirmishers and foragers, particularly to chaos dwarf slave-raiding expeditions who must travel far and wide, often into unfamiliar lands. They use bows.

Wolf Raiders = They are lured into service with the Chaos Dwarfs as mercenaries, but their new lords treat them as no better than slaves regardless. These raiders, all bandits and robbers by disposition, are if anything, even less reliable than their footslogging kin - their mounts allowing them to flee with much greater speed when the need arises.

    Cockatrice = A possible mount
    https://i.imgur.com/vehgBgz.png White Dwarf 162

Great Taurus = The supreme terrors of the crags and craters of ash and fire, some claim the Great Taurus is less a beast than a manifestation of the rage and deadly savagery of the Dark Lands themselves. To the Chaos Dwarfs, their resemblance, both in form and molten fury to the icons of their terrible god, Hashut, Father of Darkness, is no mere coincidence.

Lammasu = The Lammasu has the body of a gigantic bull, a powerful mace-tipped tail and a massive, ugly head. The Chaos Dwarfs believe that the Lammasu is a rare mutation of the Great Taurus, a creature whose forbears were once Chaos Dwarfs, but which has become twisted by the powers of Chaos into a huge bull-shaped monster.

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
Sentinel = ”The statues protected the ziggurat by provoking fear in the minds of their enemies. Lesser men would have fled screaming from the stronghold. Norscans were made of sterner stuff. Attacking unfeeling stone, spending their strength, dulling their blades upon rock and bone, the warriors were weakening themselves. Their attacks became a frenzied assault, axes and swords smashing over and over into each statue as it was cast down from its pedestal. The urge for destruction consumed the northmen as they pulverised the sentinels with mindless abandon.”

K’Daai Fireborn = The priests of Hashut, through their dark arts, have forged a race of powerful warriors, half-daemon and half-raging fire. Drawn from the magma of the deep earth, birthed in the blood sacrifices of Hashut’s altars, and bound and given form within an armoured framework of articulated iron and rune-stamped bronze. Shadows of Hashut = The air around the Sorcerer grows cold and a shadowy form begins to coalesce next to him. It forms into a visage of Hashut, the mighty God of the Chaos Dwarfs. With a deafening roar, the shadow bull charges forward smashing everything out of its way.

    Giants
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
Chaos Siege Giant = A mutilated, half-insane creature whose body has been armoured against attack by layer upon layer of heavy iron and bronze plates. These are firmly secured to the unwilling Giant by heat-fusing, riveting and nailing them deep into the Giant's flesh, and in some cases in bolting them directly into its massive skeleton.

Although the breed has been stabilised as a result of domestication. Chaos attributes still occur now and again, and these beasts are highly prized by the Hobgoblin chieftains. The Hobgobla Khan himself rides a great white Hobhound with three heads."

    War Machines
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
Death Rocket = The Death Rocket carries an explosive charge, but due to its unpredictable nature it does not always explode when the rocket lands. A rocket which goes wild can sometimes hop and skip across the battlefield, changing direction several times before it explodes.
    http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wi...f_Death_Rocket
    https://i.imgur.com/WJsPwGE.png White Dwarf 162

Deathshrieker Rocket Launcher = The packed multiple warheads of the Deathshrieker detonate in the air above the battlefield in a storm of fire - fire which has its own terrible hunger for life upon which to visit its touch. Screaming, fanged tendrils of flame plunge downwards from the blast and expand their strength actively seeking out victims.
    http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wi...ocket_Launcher

Dreadquake Mortar = The Dreadquake's deadly projectiles are fired by steam pressure that is generated by a boiler and contained within a pressure vessel - conventional gunpowder being far too dangerous given the volatility of the Dreadquake's unique and powerful shells.
    http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wi...adquake_Mortar

Earthshaker Cannon = The Earthshaker Cannon is a massive war machine of the chaos dwarfs and arguably the most destructive in their arsenal. The Earthshaker is dragged into battle, usually by ogre slaves, and is loaded with a heavy shell filled with a powerful explosive substance. Before firing, each shell is blessed by a Priest. From the older lore.
    https://i.imgur.com/WJsPwGE.png White Dwarf 162
    http://www.chaos-dwarfs.com/wiki/ind...hshaker_Cannon

Hammer of Hashut = Despite the grand ambitions of the chaos dwarfs' experiments, their rockets have not proven very reliable. One especially large rocket, a huge thing as high as a tower and known as the Hammer of Hashut, went disastrously off course and almost hit Zharr-Naggrund itself, eventually landing on a goblin camp, blowing a crater in the Plain of Zharr hundreds of yards across.
    http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wi...f_Death_Rocket

Harpoon Launcher = The chaos dwarfs utilise a number of different types of gunpowder-driven rocket weapons, ranging from shoulder-fired chain-dragging harpoons used to bind and bring down lava trolls in the magma caverns deep beneath the mountains to massive warheads launched on pillars of fire to break enemy fortifications.
    http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wi...ocket_Launcher

Hellcannon = A Hellcannon is a massive smoking construct of metal that growls and shakes with daemonic sentience. In battle, these arcane engines heave crackling blasts of raw energy that soar through the air into their targets, liquefying anything they touch and sending the survivors insane with fear.
    http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Hellcannon

Iron Daemon = One of the latest designs to see widespread service within the Chaos Dwarf empire is the Iron Daemon, a compact, armoured steam-driven traction engine. The steam boilers that provide these machines with motive power to haul heavy armaments and munitions to the battlefield.
    http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wi...mon_War_Engine

Iron Daemon (Skullcracker) = Designed for crushing fortifications and walls, the Skullcracker is a hissing and grinding arcane-mechanical conglomeration of iron hammers, hacking blades and brutal picks designed to literally pulverise and shred anything unfortunate enough to be caught in front of the machine.
    http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wi...mon_War_Engine

Iron Daemon (Steam Cannonade) = Powered by the channelled pressure of the Iron Daemon's furnace, a steam cannonade is a twin cannon used to blast a lethal storm of red-hot shrapnel and curse-laden shot into the ranks of the enemy.
    http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wi...mon_War_Engine

Juggernaut = This is a mobile weapons platform, somewhat similar to a small siege tower, with multiple levels and a cannon. The Juggernaut is pushed by a Boar Centaur. The base level was a war wagon or cart containing two small cannons or guns. Above this were a number of levels with battlements for them to fire from. There was no upper limit to the number of levels the machine could be built with.
    http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wi...arf_Juggernaut

Kollossus = It is described as a "great mechanical giant" with the head of a bull. It is powered not only by machinery, but by the daemonic powers of bound-souls. It is made up of plated and riveted iron constructed in the shape of a great bull-headed man. It is crewed by chaos dwarfs, who ride within the armoured body. On its shoulders are firing platforms where additional Chaos Dwarf crew man flame-throwers which incinerate their enemies. Inside the mouth of its bull-head lies a rapid-firing cannon. The Kollossus also uses its heavy feet to crush its foes.
    http://www.chaos-dwarfs.com/wiki/ind...itle=Kollossus

Magma Cannon = It is designed to spew molten metal and fire upon its victim, horrifically burning them to death. The Magma Cannon has seen long use and been the subject of considerable modification and experimentation by daemonsmiths.
    http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Magma_Cannon

Mortars = A chaos dwarf mortar
    https://i.imgur.com/mG4jVUi.jpg 3rd Ed. Armies Book

“Pillars of Fire” = The chaos dwarfs utilise a number of different types of gunpowder-driven rocket weapons, ranging from shoulder-fired chain-dragging harpoons used to bind and bring down lava trolls in the magma caverns deep beneath the mountains to massive warheads launched on pillars of fire to break enemy fortifications.
    http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wi...ocket_Launcher

Rocket Launcher = In addition to the hellish Deathshrieker rockets, the launchers they use are also able to fire more conventional demolition rockets if need be.
    http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wi...ocket_Launcher

Swivel Gun = Seems to be some form of small cannon, likely easily portable.
    https://i.imgur.com/OZMAHvL.png White Dwarf 108

Tenderiser = The Tenderiser is a variant of the Whirlwind in which the axle is linked by gears to three enormous concussive implements. As the device is pushed forward these implements batter and crush foes in its path.

War Altar of Hashut = "These are small portable altars carried onto the battlefield and guarded by units of religious fanatics. War altars usually contain or incorporate holy relics."
https://i.imgur.com/JjFA4G4.png Warhammer 3rd Edition Armies Book

Whirlwind = The Whirlwind is a two-wheeled push cart with scythed wheels and spikes fixed to the front. Three rotating flails and three rotating scythes are mounted on the front and driven by means of cogs and gears linked to the axle.

    Siege Train
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
"The only realistic solution to breaking massive fortifications is to employ a formidable siege train which includes siege engines of gigantic proportions capable of smashing down the strongest walls, gates and towers quickly. These machines are so huge that they cannot easily be constructed in the field. Instead, they must be manufactured in advance, often in pre-fabricated sections which can be transported in wagons, on ships, or stored until needed in fortresses."
    https://i.imgur.com/SZ5PSHZ.png White Dwarf 155

The Giant Battering Ram = "The giant battering ram is cut from the tallest and strongest tree in the realm and shod with a massive iron or bronze head. Hundreds of men are needed to pull the ropes that swing the ram to strike a gate or fortress wall. One blow will smash great oak doors like matchwood or crumbles masonry into powder, collapsing towers and walls like sand castles. The hides of a thousand beasts form its canopy, protecting the operators from the arrows of the defenders."
    https://i.imgur.com/SZ5PSHZ.png White Dwarf 155

The Great Cannon = "The great cannon is a cannon so big that the ruler will have to make special measures to get hold of enough metal to make it. All the bells in the realm or all the cannons of the fleet may have to be melted down to provide enough bronze to cast a single great cannon. It is so monstrous that hundreds of oxen are required to pull it."
    https://i.imgur.com/SZ5PSHZ.png White Dwarf 155

The Siege Tower = "Hundreds of wagons are required to carry the pre-fabricated timbers that make up the siege tower, and when these are put together the siege tower will be raised higher than any known wall. Bolt throwers shoot out of port holes on each of its many levels. A drawbridge or spiked corvus is ready on the top of the tower to be dropped on the enemy battlements allowing attackers to swarm across, constantly reinforced by a steam stream of soldiers."

    Special and Named Characters

Here is contained a full list of every possible Legendary Lord or Legendary Hero that I could find for the Chaos Dwarfs, excluding those who are long dead. I have split them into different categories for each Chaos Dwarf Faction and whether they suit being Lords or Heroes, so it is easier to know which they are best suited to being added to, if someone wished to add them to the game. Without further ado, here we go.

Instead of the rich robes of a pampered king, Khorakk was encased in a heavy suit of plate armour which drastically increased both his height and his bulk. There was no fright in the thegn’s eyes when he saw Wulfrik enter the temple, not even surprise, only an amused sort of disgust.’”

Rykarth himself was present in the forges of Zharr-Naggrund when Archaon signed a deal for the creation and crewing of the daemonic Hellcannons. Some say that Rykarth even met eyes with the Lord of the End Times without looking away. Only moments after which Archaon agreed to pay the hefty commission demanded by the Chaos Dwarfs.

Vraznak, General of Zharr Naggrund = “Vraznak sat waiting astride his mount. The Great Taurus shook its great leathery wings at the noise and clamour of the armies making ready for battle. ‘Patience’ he said, petting the great beast. ‘They are coming. We shall taste their blood soon.’”

Zhatan the Black = Zhatan serves the Sorcerer-Prophet Ghorth the Cruel, most potent of all living Chaos Dwarf Sorcerers. It is said that when Ghorth presides over the sacrifices of Hashut the only sound louder than the screams of his victims is the gloating laughter of Zhatan, his general. Zhatan is kept busy by his master's insatiable demand for fresh slaves. The Chaos Dwarf has led many successful slaving expeditions to the west, crushing every Orc army that has dared to stand up to him.

Zochaz, Sorcerer Lord = “Unworried by this horrible grimace, the great Sorcerer Lord Zochaz spoke up “Excellent, my Lord, the spineless forest dwellers have fallen into our trap and now we will take our revenge in blood. The insult we’ve suffered for these long and bitter years shall once more be avenged.’”

The Black Dwarf = The Black Dwarf was a unique special character detailed in White Dwarf issue 200 for use in a special scenario. He was said to be a young and ambitious Chaos Dwarf Sorcerer who had found a way to transfer his essence into an anvil hidden atop Black Skull Mountain in The Dark Lands. Because of this, he could not be harmed in any way, and the only way to kill him was as part of the scenario, in which a task force consisting of the White Dwarf and his followers had to make their way to the mountain and throw the anvil into a pool of magma. This special battle was played out at the same time as the main battle, which featured a large force of Chaos Dwarfs attempting to fight their way past a much smaller Dwarf force guarding Peak Pass.

Magical Weapons, Armour, Amulets, Scrolls and Other Items

This section deals in those magical items that can be used by this faction. This is by no means a full list, I doubt I'll ever get that, but it will provide modders with information if they wish to add new magical weapons, armour and items into the game to be used.

    Common Magic Items
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
If you follow the link below you will find dozens of magical items that are commonly found in the Old World (and beyond).

    Magic Weapons
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
Basilisk Blade = ”Even after death the bones of a Basilisk poison the world around them, exuding a foul aura that can putrefy flesh and corrode metal. Weapons fashioned from the rancid bones recovered from Basilisk remains are terrifyingly deadly, but thankfully rare as they are just as deadly to their wielders as they are to their victims.”
    https://drive.google.com/drive/folde...V96TFBvQ1dNZGc Monstrous Arcanum

Chaos Runesword = "This weapon was forged by Grungni Ironheart, a Dwarf Runesmith that was corrupted and led astray by the Chaos Gods. The runes carved into the blade increase the bearer's Weapon Skill, Strength and Attacks by 1 point each."
    https://i.imgur.com/Cmqq8QQ.png White Dwarf 172

Cold Iron Blade = ”Ancient lore claims that only iron weapons shaped without the use of fire can harm the spirits that infest certain regions of the world. Only the strongest of smiths can perform such a feat, hammering the metal into shape with brute strength before such artefacts are enchanted. Though the results are always crudely shaped, their potency against the ephemeral creatures is unquestionable.”
    https://drive.google.com/drive/folde...V96TFBvQ1dNZGc Monstrous Arcanum

The Lash of Itzaotyl = ”Used by the servants of the Old Ones to subdue the massive beasts that stalked the world at the dawn of time, the ancient Last of Itzaotyl ensnares all it touches with an unbreakable tendril of pure magical essence. Since its theft from the Lizardmen, by the daughters of Naggaroth millennia ago, it has known many masters and current whereabouts are unknown.”
    https://drive.google.com/drive/folde...V96TFBvQ1dNZGc Monstrous Arcanum

    Magic Armour
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
Scintillating Shield = ”In the ancient legends of Estalia, retold so many times in their origin is now forgotten, heroes would be gifted with shields which were so highly polished they blinded their foes and deflected the deadly gaze of the Basilisks and Cockatrice that were the scourge of that Land in ancient days. Scintillating Shields, whether they be the items spoken of in legend or more recent creations wrought by wizard-craft, fetch a prince’s ransom when rumours of Basilisk or Cockatrice attack spread.”
    https://drive.google.com/drive/folde...V96TFBvQ1dNZGc Monstrous Arcanum

Wyrmscale Armour of the Deep = ”A glistening coat of Merwyrm scales, the enchantment on this armour keeps it coated with a shimmering Layer of briny sea water. Not only do the iron-hard scales deflect sword and arrow, but the scales still recall their home in the icy deeps of the ocean and grant their wearer passage through water and foil fiery assaults upon him.”
    https://drive.google.com/drive/folde...V96TFBvQ1dNZGc Monstrous Arcanum

    Talismans
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
Faithless Charm = ”The degenerate Ettin hill clans have been known to hang these small craven charms in the dismal northern woods, warding away those who would trespass on the Ettin’s miserable existence. Each is an embodiment of the unholy curse that afflicts the very souls of the Ettin. Those foolish enough to carry one with them for any length of time find their senses sharpened - until they lose control and the curse consumes them too.”
    https://drive.google.com/drive/folde...V96TFBvQ1dNZGc Monstrous Arcanum

The Pinion of the Phoenix = ”These ephemeral feathers, plucked from the burning wings of a manifested phoenix and woven into a talisman, are preserved by the arts of ancient Elf magic. Handed down through generations of High Elf nobility, they are borne into the direst of battles as badges of honour, swiftly burning away to dust once removed from their protective caves. While they last they protect their bearer from harm, and should he fall grant him a fiery reprieve from death.”
    https://drive.google.com/drive/folde...V96TFBvQ1dNZGc Monstrous Arcanum

Warpscale Pendant = ”Crafted from the deformed scales of a Warpfire Dragon, these eerily worked talismans are the product not of twisted Skaven ingenuity as some suspect but rather of some unseen agency believed to be connected to the ruling cabals of the Tilean City-states. Ensorcelled to protect the wearer against weapons fuelled by warpstone, many Skaven wizards covet such items as a measure against assassination by their own kind - though the fear Warpfire Dragon’s cause among the warpstone-laden holds of the Skaven keeps them rare.”
    https://drive.google.com/drive/folde...V96TFBvQ1dNZGc Monstrous Arcanum

    Arcane Items
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
Battle Stone of Le Marquis = ”Michel d’un Doigt was a Bretonnian wizard famous for the nine enchanted gem stones he created. The Battle Stone is a glimmering red ruby that fills its bearer with vigour and energy.”
    https://i.imgur.com/AGceWtm.png White Dwarf Issue 194

Bufo’s Hex Scroll = ”This scroll may be used to cancel out the spell of an enemy wizard and turn him into a toad.”
    https://i.imgur.com/XIAKWjB.png White Dwarf Issue 194

Lifestone of Ashraaz = ”The Lifestone of Ashraaz is a jet black gem that is worn round the neck of its bearer. When invoked, a beam of light shoots out of the stone and bathes the bearer and his opponent in a pool of yellow light. When the light fades the bearer’s wounds have been magically transferred to his enemy.”
    https://i.imgur.com/O9IGyJF.png White Dwarf Issue 194

Power Stone of Le Marquis = ”Michel d’un Doigt was a powerful Bretonnian wizard who laboured long and hard to create a series of enchanted gem stones for use by the chivalric knights of that realm.”
    https://i.imgur.com/AGceWtm.png White Dwarf Issue 194

The Mystic Shield of Brag = ”This scroll of parchment contains a powerful anti-magic enchantment that may be used by a wizard to block the spell of an enemy spellcaster.”
    https://i.imgur.com/XIAKWjB.png White Dwarf Issue 194

    Enchanted Items
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
Pelt of Wulfag = ”When able to pursue a broken enemy they must do so, and they add D6 speed to their movement.”
    http://kippersmelee.ca/wp-content/up...ogs-of-War.pdf

    Magic Standards
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
Sacrificial Banner = ”Covered with arcane patterns daubed in blood and draped in ornate sigils and charms the Sacrificial Banner looks impressive, but its real purpose is rarely explained to those troops ‘honoured’ with its care. It is enchanted with the sole purpose of enraging and attracting the ire of the gigantic monsters that prowl the Warhammer world, so that a canny general can dictate the movement of his enemy’s most powerful ally.”

All manner of spells and items dormant for decades suddenly crackle into vibrant life, eager to have their power unleashed on an unsuspecting world. Dawnstar Sword = ”Legend goes that this blade was forged in the first rays of light to strike the world. The energy of this auspicious enchantment remains embedded deep within the burnished blade, waiting to be called forth once more in a blaze of glory.”
    https://drive.google.com/drive/folde...WhndVE0VklZZDA Storm of Magic

Blade of Last Resort = ”This sword has ever had a twisted sense of humour, seeking out overmatched heroes and aiding them against a chosen foe. However, the Blade of Last Resort draws its strength from a victor’s glorious lifeblood; those that best an opponent with its aid themselves have scant moments to live.”
    https://drive.google.com/drive/folde...WhndVE0VklZZDA Storm of Magic

Dodecahedron of Continental Drift = ”Said to have been left behind by the Old Ones, this peculiar object can be used to remake the world. Each alteration to the Dodecahedron’s external matrix is reflected on the land around the user. Its ill-considered use can easily prove catastrophic…”
    https://drive.google.com/drive/folde...WhndVE0VklZZDA Storm of Magic

Fozzrik’s Floating Fortress = ”Though Fozzrik’s magical aptitude led him to become a wizard, he never lost his love for architecture. Many of the Old World’s cities have been built around immaculate structures that Fozzrik created from stone and sorcery, but more prized by far are his floating fortresses - buildings that move under their own power and sprout defences to repel intruders.”
    https://drive.google.com/drive/folde...WhndVE0VklZZDA Storm of Magic

Woodwaker’s Wand = ”Once upon a time, all the woods in the world were linked. Some say this great forest was alive, in a curious sort of way, and that every tree that now grows retains a portion of its vigour and intelligence just waiting to be revived.”
    https://drive.google.com/drive/folde...WhndVE0VklZZDA Storm of Magic

Living Deadwood Staff = ”Arboreonecromancy is a little-practiced branch of wizardry - any mystic crazed enough to attempt it normally transfers his attentions back to raising zombies and skeletons, rather than undead trees. However, legends tell of the Archmage Sycamo, ‘The Daemon Carpenter of Estalia’, who not only perfected a method of reanimating trees from their residual elements, but also filling them with astounding vigour. Much of Sycamo’s work has, fortunately, been lost to the intervening aeons, but the Living Deadwood Staff never stays missing for long…”
    https://drive.google.com/drive/folde...WhndVE0VklZZDA Storm of Magic

Giantkin Helm = ”After constantly being told ‘We expect big things from you’ by his Elector Count father, Heinrich von Roth spent much of the family fortune commissioning an artefact that would help him achieve greatness. Alas, he was to learn that when dealing with wizards, precision of diction is just as important as largesse of payment.”
    https://drive.google.com/drive/folde...WhndVE0VklZZDA Storm of Magic

Windcatcher Prism = ”This peculiar bauble was crafted long ago, its purpose very much tied to storms of magic. Once a particular Wind of Magic rises to a certain cataclysmic level, the Windcatcher Prism absorbs and rechannels a portion of its power, bestowing the bearer - and his immediate allies - with an avataric aspect of the ascendant Wind of Magic.”
    https://drive.google.com/drive/folde...WhndVE0VklZZDA Storm of Magic

Paranoth’s Piquet Fence = ”Paranoth was a famous travelling mage, who trod every road ‘twixt Cathay and Naggarond. Naturally, only a particularly foolish wizard would journey such roads without defences, so Paranoth wove himself a sorcerous fence to defend his encampments whilst he and his companions slept.”
    https://drive.google.com/drive/folde...WhndVE0VklZZDA Storm of Magic

Rockcharmer’s Flute = ”Androgast Gildheim was the first man in the Empire to master this granite flute, but its origins lie hidden in the mists of time. Some say that the Rockcharmer’s Flute was used to destroy the old Dwarfen realms, others that it sank the fabled realm of Seidon. However, the most popular tale concerns a drunken Halfling, the Rockcharmer’s Flute, a jug of lamp oil, a plate of sausages and the accidental creation of the Grey Mountains.”
    https://drive.google.com/drive/folde...WhndVE0VklZZDA Storm of Magic

Wyssan’s Weighted Dice = ”This set of weighted dice is one amongst many forged by Arctovian Wyssan over the course of a long and (unsurprisingly) successful wagering career. At the bearer’s command, these skull-marked cubes play havoc with the laws of causality; turning certainty into bleak misfortune.”
    https://drive.google.com/drive/folde...WhndVE0VklZZDA Storm of Magic

Arabyan Puzzlebox = ”This elegantly crafted container houses many hundreds of glittering gemstones, each with the power to harness the Winds of Magic if used in the correct manner. Alas, the user can never truly be sure that the compartment he has opened will contain the gems he needed.”
    https://drive.google.com/drive/folde...WhndVE0VklZZDA Storm of Magic

Black Book of Ibn Naggazar = ”Ibn Naggazar was a brilliant, if somewhat maniacal, Arabyan sorcerer. Whilst it is unknown whether his madness sprang from isolation, too many attempts at creating intoxicating ‘elixirs’ or the honeyed promises of whispering Daemons, there can be no doubt that he was utterly insane. No rational wizard would create a book inked on the skin of his closest family, much less constantly follow its advice.”
    https://drive.google.com/drive/folde...WhndVE0VklZZDA Storm of Magic

Silverstone Axe = ”In the ancient barrows that dot the Empire, huge enchanted axes forged of gromril, known to ancient men as Silverstone, have been found. Inert until the storms of magic howl, these axes are so heavy that only the strongest warriors can lift them and then impact shakes the ground, knocking armoured warriors from their feet while against wizards their effects are even more potent as the winds of magic lash and recoil at their blows. When a storm of magic rages these weapons are brought to the battlefield once again to bring down the titanic beasts set loose upon the world.” - Magic Weapon

The Crucible of Horrors = ”No one knows from whence the Crucible of Horrors came, but contained within the flash of twisted meteoric iron is a vortex of seething black energy which screams like the torment of damned souls. This deadly artefact has been sought out by many down the centuries, and it has passed through the hands of many tyrants, arch-sorcerers, wizards and kings, and at its use the destruction of cities and slaughter of armies has been laid. When unleashed the power of the crucible is erratic and dangerously unstable, but it can unleash devastation and even create nightmarish doppelgangers of slain monsters to fight at the wielder’s bidding. The power of the Crucible of Horrors is treacherous however, as more than one would be conqueror has found to their cost.” - Enchanted Items

The White Sistrum = ”There are many night-haunted legends originating from the foetid jungles and deadly wastes of the far hinterlands of Khuresh. Stories abound of the dread Snake Men and the foul and nightmarish Blood Naga queens who rule there, and it is a realm where men are no more than hunted prey, and blood and souls are the only coin in trade. Rarely do artefacts of this fell civilisation reach the Old World and all are steeped in blood and misunderstood power. One such artefact is the White Sistrum, a strange ivory-grown, drum shaped like an hourglass, whose discordant music brings madness and death, and evokes the terrible rites of the Naga.” - Arcane Item

Lore Information Regarding the Chaos Dwarfs

When a series is being continuously updated for a quarter of a century there is bound to be a massive amount of lore that has been created for it. This is an attempt to collate important snippets of lore that I have found during my research into units. I am presenting these in note form rather than in quote form due to the sheer amount of information that is potentially able to be displayed here, but I hope that it will prove useful or interesting to you regardless.

    Generic Information
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
    - The warping influence of Chaos has thrown forth many malformations and horrific mutations.
    - Some of these unnaturally blended unlikely creatures defy comprehension of the sane.
    - Such creatures flourish like a canker in the Chaos Wastes.
    - The Boar Centaur is one of these beasts, and it has become an object of experimentation by Chaos Dwarf Artisans.
    - They were enslaved and now push and power various machineries of the Chaos Dwarfs.
    - Boar Centaurs combine the upper torso of a Dwarf and the lower body of a boar.
    - Their coarse fur varies from individual to individual. As many ape natural shades of horse fur as those manifesting bizarre colourations and patterns.

    - The ancestors of Hobhounds were probably dogs which became tainted during the first Incursions of Chaos.
    - These hounds became larger, more fierce and dangerous.
    - The most notable hobhounds are found amongst the foothills of the Mountains of Mourn.
    - These creatures displaced the natural predators of the area because they were larger, meaner and more aggressive.
    - When the Hobgoblin tribes of the Mourngul settled in the Mountains of Mourn, they domesticated the Hobhound by taking and nurturing unweaned puppies to provide breeding stock.
    - Many thousands of years later, the Mourngul use the Hobhounds as mounts for war.
    - A wild hobhound is completely unapproachable and domesticated ones can easily tear a limb.
    - Although the breed has been stabilised as a result of domestication, Chaos attributes still occur now and again, and these mutants are highly prized by Hobgoblin Chieftains.
    - It is tradition among the Hobgoblins to dock the tails of domesticated hounds.

    - The Chaos Dwarfs believe that the Lammasu is a rare mutation of the Great Taurus.
    - The forebears of the Great Taurus were once chaos dwarfs which became twisted by the powers of Chaos into a bull-shaped monster.
    - It's a creature with magical properties.
    - The Lammasu doesn't breathe air but breathes the power of magic itself and exhales black sorcery.
    - The Lammasu is the favoured mount of sorcerers.
    - Great Taurus are stabled in great pens beneath the Temple of Hashut.
    - The Chaos Dwarfs believe the great taurus' were once dwarfs and that they were mutated by chaos.
    - The Chaos Dwarfs sometimes call the Great Tauruses the Red Bulls of Hashut.

    - Even the merest whiff of money does odd things to a dwarf, and is enough to stir a slayer away from his doom, even if just for a little while
    Gotrek & Felix: Berthold’s Beard

    - The dawi zharr worship Hashut by pushing sacrifices into bronze ovens cast in the shape of bulls.

    Desolation of Azgorh
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
    - The Desolation of Azgorh lived up to its grisly name.
    - A barren landscape of bleached sand and windswept rock, even the few patches of cactus which sprouted from the blasted earth were withered and sickly.

    Military
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

    - The Whirlwind machine is used to break up and smash through blocks of infantry.
    - Some machines are pushed by Boar Centaurs, a slave race of the Chaos Dwarfs.

    https://i.imgur.com/pNHFunS.png 3rd Ed. Armies Book

    - The Chaos Dwarfs generally fight with one of two weapons; double handed axes and blunderbusses.
    - The double-handed axe is a short hafted weapon with a heavy metal blade.
    - These axes can easily cleave through armour.
    - The blunderbuss is a short ranged weapon of devastating effect.
    - The blunderbuss fires shards of spiked iron at the enemy, though it can also fire hot coals, lead shot, scrap metal and even stones if need be.
    - Blunderbuss armed chaos dwarfs are also ferocious hand-to-hand fighters.
    - Their preferred tactic is to give the enemy a single blast before charging into close combat.
