Default Need help with Rome Campaign

So i haven't played RTW2 for about a year, and came back and installed DEI. Started several campaigns with Rome on Normal Difficulty and i can't seem to able to defeat Carthage+ Syracuse. In the start i tried rushing through Sicily investing all my money on two full stacks, but as i am trying to defeat Syracuse, Carthage starts invading Magna Graecia with their ships and i can't afford a third force to defend my settlements. It also doesn't help with Epirus declaring war on me 10 turns in the campaign. Can you guys give me some advice? Is there any way to avoid fighting Carthage so early on? It seems like Roman units gets stronger in the late game period. Also while in the AI turn they seem to bring 2+ armies outta nowhere and attack one stack of mine at a time while i'm trying to defend two settlements that i just conquered and have no garrison. I managed to get the Seleucid to fight against Carthage too but they don't seem to do much. Anyways, i'm starting a new campaign and need your guys advice on what to do.

There are various threads here with similar questions that have responses that may help, 2 recent ones are http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showt...first-campaign and http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showt...-a-first-timer

But, some general tips are here http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showt...-Strategy-Tips

Various ones often cited are -
    - Build up your economy and buildings first. Focus on having 1 stack and use them defensively. If you are new to the mod, rushing an invasion is going to be a problem.
    - Diplomacy - get trade agreements, use diplomacy to your advantage to maintain one front

Just found out that the campaign was changed because i was using the Ancient Empires for DEI Submod, with this Rome starts at war with Carthage and Syracuse, that's why i was getting steamrolled so hard.

Yes, Ancient Empires has a very different start from the basic mod.

Is there any submod i can install that the AI rushes with more stacks against me. And maybe more agressive.

Has to be steam compatible. Because i play over steam.

Had some 2 full stack AI vs one stack of me. Awesome battles.

    Thanks for answers

I play as rome and now in the mid to late game, i have the feeling that no enemy can stand against my legions and auxilaries. And when its a good general eith them its even easier. But maybe the AI can throw much more units against me.

If you want a harder campaign and more aggression, try the DeI Hardcore Submod.

I watched it but it changes so much other things, i don't want to be changed. Just more enemy stacks to fight against espacily in the mid to late game.

You could (And if you cant yourself, you might be lucky that one of us got the time for it ) just remove all the changes that you dont want, and leave the ones that you like.
You would be surprised how easy it is, once you get a hang of it, to personalize mods or even submods as is the case with the Hardcore submod

    Here you go:
    http://www.filedropper.com/experimentalcai

It is a very small submod, that basically just changes 1 value (the AI readyness to attack relevant to "chance of success").

However, I did test it for a while, and it seems it DOES make the AI more aggresive.
From what I saw, the AI is more likely to attack my troops, and there are less situations where there is a "standstill".

Of course, this is all relative, because there are many factors involved, but it does seem to work, at least somewhat.

    To use it:
Drop it in your /data folder, then activate it through the mod manager. I`m not sure how the Steam mod manager works, as I`m not using Steam, but you should be able to figure it out.

Just be sure that the mod is named so that it is alphabetically before DeI. Otherwise it wont load in the correct order in the steam manager.
