Default Question : Naval Action : What is the state of the campaign?

I'm currently thinking about buying Naval Action. However , I'm more interested in the single player/campaign aspect of the game than in PvP. You could say I'm an old Pirates player looking for something similar , though I definitely looking forward to the sailing simulation itself of course. I've been trying to look up some information on the campaign , but so far I've only found information on combat.

Thus my question about the state of campaign. Could somebody give some more insight on that? Is it playable , or is the campaign still barebones? Can you have a great campaign game already , or best to wait until a later release? Thanks!

    Hi LaMuerte,

There is no campaign as such as the game stands now and I doubt there ever will be a story based single player campaign. This is basically now an open world game with the focus on physics based combat instances.

There is a PVE server currently but I have never played on it and so can only tell you about the PVP server.
On the PVP server - which is simply the PVE server with the ability to attack other players - you basically join a nation and may never fight another player.
Here are some of the things people do:

    * Fish - this is just one ingredient to help make medical kits that replenish crew numbers after you lose some in battle
    * Hunt both AI and Human merchant ships carrying goods back and forth to build with or sell.
    * Craft ships and sell them to other players, break them up or sell them to the AI.
    * Take missions against the AI. Which is just sailing in the open world to a mission location and fighting an AI opponent
    * Take FLEET missions against the AI. Which means sailing to a mission location and fighting a fleet with AI on your side and enemy AI. You can co-operate with friends in these.
    * Port Battles - fight to take a port from the enemy. These are usually big events with large clans involved. The aim for nations is to make alliances with other nations and take the entire maps ports.
    * Trade - Buy and sell goods in different ports using your knowledge of what ports want. You must sail your merchant to these ports with the goods.
    * Escort friends traders\merchant ships.... sail a warship to ensure your mate is not an easy target for enemy.

Note that the AI never attack you on the PVP server. The open world is also so big that it's relatively rare to get attacked by enemy nations raiders. They have to sail down to your waters and that often takes a while.

A lot of things are yet to be added to this game. But it is apparently going to be prepared for release around september this year.

Sail your ship as part of a fleet. Devs previously worked on: Darthmod, World of Warplanes, World of Tanks, RaceRoom, IL2-Sturmovik, Metro, STALKER and many other great games..

For a game that has gone out of its way to provide a realistic sailing experience, it is totally lacking in gaming experience. My gut tells me once the novelty of sailing wears off, there isn't much attraction to the game. Some of the criticism seems to have confirmed this. This game seems like a long way off of being completed anytime soon.
