Prince Władysław stared at the fire in the fireplace. He remembered the times when his father was inviting him with his brothers for a few moments at such a fireplace. He often argued with brothers what they would do to, when will become Polonia rulers. He remembered that he envied the older brother of his birthright. Because he was the successor of his father, the prince of Poland. He remembered the coronations of his brother to the king. Władysław had to fit in with their conditions. He also remembered how people from the court had accused Władysław of plotting against the king. Prince honestly hated them for it. How could they suspect him of plotting against his brother? Everything he did for the country and for the family, although the multitude of views at court did not facilitate the conduct of politics. He had to get along with Bohemians and Roman Empire, because it had no chance of conducting internal and external warfare. He missed for the Magyars. They were more savage, but when they trust a man they are faithful to death. He was feeling a lack of those people. At the court is full of Bohemian and German intrigue, who smile at him, but behind the back report as ravens to the mighty from the west. He did not count on good relations with the emperor, but he hoped that at least the king of Bohemia would be able to get along. Vain hopes. He was not even invited to the coronation. Władysław often wondered how his sister was and why she wasn't writing letters as often as she used to. Maybe she forgot about her Polish family.

He feared next days. He felt excited, but he was afraid what this time would be a obstructions. Whenever one of the Piasts reached for the crown, something unexpected happened, like new enemies, traitors, rebellions. He was curious what would happen this time. He had everything planned. They will draw old relics. Coronation will be performed by the Archbishop. They prepared new insignia of ruling. The old one from his brother can not associate with the people. Everything will take place on the Wawel in Kraków, in place of the crowning of the rulers of Poland. It seemed that everything was going their way.

Herman von Formbach , travelled with his mercenary company through the venetian lands with little trouble , apart from the odd venetian peasant who called what he thought might be Italian swearwords upon seeing the Bavarian colours .But this was of little interest to the fierce lord, but what was of note however, was a reply to his request to his holy father , the Pope, on current contracts that his company could carry out .

His scribe was notified and a message was sent to the lands of the Milanese and Genoan's to wether they could have, fair passage to the coast in their lands , so his company could take to the ocean .

The Berthold brother await the final event of the year with the marriage of the emperors daughter , and perhaps hope that the fact that it is being held, in one of there old terrority's will bring somesort of associated benefits to the burgundy holdings. Both brothers are in the city with the other notable characters, the bishop and other nobles, in what will be the foremost event in these lands. Each has different reasons for attending however.

Berthold I , Duke of Burgundy , hopes that this being the "biggest" event of the year , it will provide him with as many much opportunities to dance with as many "pretty" ladies of the court as time will allow [under the deep scrutiny and close eye of his frowning wife]. His brother however , hopes that , the event with give him greater opportunity to meet and befriend as many of his fellow nobles & neighbours as possible , to advance his position as the power in burgundy terrority, and to highlight that if they wish for anything of worth to be achieved in burgundy , that they should deal with him....

He gripped the side of the vessel firmly , as he saw the estates of his lands, that he loved so much slowly fade from view, as the fleet departed the harbour and moved into the much more dangerous waters of the Baltic sea , where the historical tales of sea monsters had haunted his childhood.

His third son , Rudolf von Stade , had chosen to accomply him on this voyage , as there needed to be a member of his family to take over the newly conquered terrority if victory was obtained, and other nobles had jointed too. Ludwig von Schwalenberg, Sir Cancor von Supplingburg and Liutold von Groitzsch had all taken the opportunity that such a voyage and battle could provide to make there names , valour in the battles to come . There was always bounty to collect , and names to be made in new terrority, and such was the chances those bastard knights would take here.
