I, Herzog Dietrich claim the city/region of Rheims/Champagne in the name of all German people. But mostly for Simon Comes Campaniae, the true Count of Champagne.

A message is sent by the emperor to all the crusader host in the holy land:
"With the crusade concluded, we invite all leaders of this holy undertaking present in Palestine to Jerusalem, to determine the future of the Holy Land and, most importantly, elect a King of Jerusalem to serve as protector of the Holy Sepulchre.
Candidates shall be put forth, and by vote of the commanders of the crusade, one shall receive the lands and city of Jerusalem, and the Title of Rex Ierusaleme.
Henricus, Romanorum Imperator, Fidei Defensor."
OOC: My proposition for the proceedings:
All players involved in the crusade and currently having an army and character present in the holy land may put forth a candidate, and have one vote on the issue. The candidate (that is, his faction) with the most votes receives the settlement of Jerusalem, otherwise his kingship is treated as jadli has proposed above.
Sicily was a player faction at the time of the crusade, so even with them turned AI, they should be allowed to vote by proxy player in this instance.
other matters may be discussed in RP, if there is further input as to the distribution of settlement etc.
as this is an in game proposition as well, the council will be opened by me next turn, so i think all further discussion should be RP, rather than further ooc.

Austria up! http://www.mediafire.com/file/xlcm52...ia_39.sav/file
A large ceremony hall in the "Farthest Mosque" in Jerusalem was filled with all the most important nobles of the crusade, including the emperor himself. Everyone stood silently, paying respects to one of the greatest men the realm has ever known. Only one speaking was prague bishop, Jaromír Přemyslovec, speaking in latin, and assisted by several other important clerical figures. Ota Přemyslovec, appanage duke of Olomouc, margrave of Pomerania and the youngest brother of the departed King Vratislav, stood in the silent crowd, close to the emperor. His brother Vratislav was undoubtly one of the most important rulers, House Přemyslovec has ever had. He managed to end usual endless civil wars between relatives in Czech lands, that were severely damaging Duchy of Bohemia, and then he actively took part in assisting in the reich politics, standing loyally by the side of Henry Salian against the pope. In result, Duchy of Bohemia was elevated to Czech Kingdom, with a new sigil, a silver crowned lion on dark red background, and Vratislav himself was crowned a king, and the title is to be hereditary. Then he took part in some smaller events in the realm, such as the imperial ride. In the end, he joined the crusade, to conclusively form his legacy. Just after he reached the Holy City, he passed away, and now he will be burried in one of the greatest temples of christianity.
Ota felt, like his brother's life cycle was completed. But he couldnt help, but to to doubt this great journey. Did all those 3 thousand czech and moravian men, who joined the crusade, just came here to witness the burrial of their king? Apart from ensuring their place in the heavens of course. Ota coughed a bit. We didnt even fight a single battle... We came late, because my damn nephew had to have his wedding with the Babenberg girl... Ota looked left, where his nephew Vladislav, son of Vratislav, with a certain claim to Margraviate of Austria, was standing.... and then those damn lorraine armies hired too many mercenary ships, so we had to divide our forces. Because of it, I didnt see Vratislav for several months, and only met him in Jerusalem, to witness his quick death... It all, while having barely any messages from home. How are my sons doing in Stettin and Visby? He wondered I hope Konrád will not cause problems with the succession, Břetislav (son of Vratislav) is supposed to inherit the crown. Why did Vratislav make him a regent anyway? That will cause problems... Ota sighed, when picturing another civil war... No, I dont want to go all the way back there, just to see how they destroy everything Vratislav fought so hard to build... He thought for a while, and then made a decision. My sons can take part in that madness, if they want. I will stay here, and help build the new holy kingdom. My brother didnt make the greatest czech expedition in our history, so we could just come, and then leave, without archiving anything, and dying in the process. No.. Ota looked at the emperor. For my brother, I will claim the Crown of Jerusalem!
= I put forward Ota Přemyslovec, appanage duke of Olomouc, margrave of Pomerania and brother of great King Vratislav, as a candidate for the crown of Jerusalem
-------------------------------
Břetislav, son of King Vratislav, and thus an heir to the czech crown, was on route to Graz, after visiting most of Austria and Styria, to meet the local lords, and receive their preliminary oath of loyalty, as it was expectable, that his father wouldnt return from the crusade. However, for some reason, before his father left, he named his brother Konrád, the duke of Brno, to be his regent while on crusade. Samely as his father, Břetislav was a famous warrior, nobody in Czech kingdom doubted his martial and comand skills (he has ten stars ). He used to spend most of time in his margraviate of Brandeburg, seized from The Saxons during the first civil war. However, after his father left for the crusade, he moved to Prague, and then he went for inspection in Austria and Styria. He is accompanied by Elisabeth von Babenberg, a wife to Vladislac Přemyslovec and older sister of Leopopd von Babenberg, who is future lord of Austria, once he reaches a sufficent age. He is also accompanied by Udalrich, Konrád's son. If he was any smart, he would have runned home at night, Břetislav though. As he excepted that his uncle Konrád might not give up his regent position so easily, and let Břetislav become a king easily. He he will not want to waste czech blood, and destroy what his brother has built. And I have his dumb son, Břetislav chuckled. Ill give him a few more castles in Moravia, and he will be happy. Maybe Ill give Olomouc to him too, Ota has no use for it anymore anyway, and his sons are busy in the north. Father said they had talked about it after all...
Just before he reached Graz, a messenger on a foamed horse reached them, informing him about departure of his father, after he had gloriously reached Jerusalem. The convoy stopped for a while, to absorb the news, that the greatest man these lands have ever known, has passed. After that, all the nobles that accompanied him, proclaimed Břetislav a new king, including Elisabeth von Babenberg, and his cousin Udalrich, the most eagerly of all of them. If only his father saw him, Břetislav smiled. After that, they continued to Graz, to meet Otto von Diessen, currently the most powerful men and famous man in Styria. I will have to adjust the purpose of my visit to these lands a bit. I dont expect Konrád would try something, but if I have the nobles Styria and Austria accompanying me, when I come back, he will think twice, Břetislav thought, with intention to ask Otto Von Diessen to accompany him to Prague for his coronation, where he would formally accept his oath of loyalty, after accepting a preliminary one in Graz of course. Having him accompany him would likely also make easier getting more austrian and styrian nobles to join him on his coronaton route ..
-------------------------------
In Brno, Konrád Přemyslovec, the king's regent, watched young Leopold von Babenberg, the child margrave of Austria (and Styria), forestered by Konrád, practicing meele combat with his second born son Lutold, who was a few years older than Leopold. It has been a few hours, since the news of his brother's death in Jerusalem reached Brno. Since that, Konrád has been thinking about what to do. He still hasnt forgiven his brother, that he named his son Břetislav an heir to the crown, instead of Konrád (as till now, there used to be a seniority system). The only reason he hadnt rebelled yet was, that he didnt want to fight his brother Vratislav, and also that Vratislav gave him some more land in Moravia, which in fact Konrád didnt care much about. Later, when the crusade begun, Vratislav urged on him, to mantain peace while he would be away. He offered to name him his regent, and that once he returns, as rewards for maintaining peace he would pass Olomouc to him, as Ota was content with lands in Pomerania. Konrád accepted. He was a bit suprised at the time, though he heard there were some fights between Vratislav and Břetislav, just before they left, which might have had part on this decision. Vratislav was probably more afraid of his son usurping his crown while on crusade, then me doing so, Konrád laughed. What to do now? He asked himself. I made that deal with Vratislav, and he is dead now. I dont own Břetislav anything. All my surviving borthers are in Holy Land, I am the oldest member of our dynasty here, I will not bow to Břetislav. And if so, definitely not for free. I fought the germans and austrians before he was even born...
Konrád made his decision, and started thinking about how to execute it: I have young Leopold, I can use him to get support of Austria and Styria. Břetislav is likely already trying to do the same, since he is there with Leopold's sister. It will not mean anything, though. Once they see Leopold is with me, they will switch sides and Břetislav will be done. Although, Udalrich is with them. He stopped for a second, before dismissing it, I instructed him what to do in such situation, no need to worry about that... Konrád moved to the next part of his plans: Should I head for Prague, to crown myself, and wait for surprised Břetislav to show up? But he has larger suport in Bohemia, like me in Moravia. If he decided to fight, I could find myself surrounded in Prague, especially if his men from Brandeburg arrive. Or I could march south, and intercept him while returning from Austria, and catch him by surprise. But by that, I might force some of the austrian and styrian houses to side with him, the same houses who would otherwise side with me, once Leopold orders them to...
Konrád couldnt decide what to do for several minutes, until he mysteriously nodded and went down to talk to Leopold. Once he reached them, they looked at him with a question. He smiled at young Leopold: "My young margrave, it is time for us to go on a small journey..."

Otto von Diessen was surprised to see the departed bohemian guest , Prince Břetislav, son of King Vratislav , return to Graz, asking him to assemble a host of Austrian levies . He was asked to accompany him to Prague for his coronation, where he would formally accept his oath of loyalty, but little more than that was discussed and whenever Otto tried to know more about the situation , he was ignored or rebutted and the conversation changed tract.
The nobles and levies of Austria , were annoyed at being summoned again , particularly from what they classified the steward of Austria at this time , as the Styriences family was still under imprisonment in the emperors personal estates, and the heir to the estates of Babenberg was with Konrad , in the Bohemian Kingdom. The nobles and levies had fought two civil wars and a disbanded crusade over the last twenty years , and were looking forward to some relaxing times in there estates , when the call came , to assemble at Wien under Otto's command.
Grumbling and bitter , they still responded to the call, but it could be said , the Austrian noblemen , knights and men-at-arms conducted themselves with a sullen silence, and annoyed glances were given to Otto's back when he wasn't looking. Otto decided to ignore such looks until he could work out what the Bohemian prince's, real objective was, and reflecting at the sighing Austrian troops , that he hoped , he could know that soon.

{city of Palma , with Castle of Bardi}
The troops of Bavaria took a look at the city of Palma with the impressive Castle of Bardi , overlooking the town , whilst the light still held, each regiment knew its duty for the following attack and its objectives were for the day. A messenger arrived from the Pope, asking them to desist in attacking the last of the burgundy faction, but the leader of the Bavaria , dismissed this as a Schwabian trick , to delay there effort, as he saw them already lurking behind them, by a half days march, stuck on the River Po bridges, assaulting the Burgudian fort, blocking the bridge. Any delay of the assault , would bring them closer to bear , and Hermann did not want them to dispute the capture of the city , knowing that they would inevitably claim part of the victory , and perhaps the spoils, so the attack would have to be tonight, whilst they were still delayed.
Herman , the current duke of Bavaria looked upon his forces, which were ready for the assault, with rams, siege towers and ladders, all of his troops waited in readiness, for the light to finally dim , and across the field, small blaziers were lit , to give the attacking forces , more light , for the night-time assault. The Light of the day , slowly fell , as the sun departed from the horizon, and the duke waved his arm , and arrows were lit, and fired into the city , and the town was suddenly litup with several small fires as some of the houses roods were set alight , providing more chaos as the assault began.
Siege towers rumbled forward, unmolested to the walls, ramps fell, and Bavaria spearmen , ran out onto the walls , where the Bavarian spearmen met them in fierce hand to hand combat. Most of the Bavarian retinue were heavy knights who refused to dismount and leave there precious horses, but Hermann knew if the situation changed he might have to force them into battle , if the fight became in doubt.
Two hours , each side, small battles raged between the factions , the moon providing some light in the night and each siege tower was given a particular name , as small local battles were fought over such areas , as each side sought dominance over a area of the wall. The dead toil mounted, and the towns church began to ring out, signalling to the city folk to bar there doors and isolate what citizenly , that hadn't departed that there was extreme danger ahead.
Finally the shear number of Bavarian men was the deciding factor, as they could thrown onto the wall making the different , and finally the last of Burgundian troops deserted the walls, running for the castle , were they would make there last stand.
The Castle of Bardi was a solid construction , and although the city of Palma was now captured , it would take some time to fully capture , but the added pressure of the Schwabian troops nearby drove the duke into a fury , as he pushed his men, ever to ever more haste and the rams were brought forward without delay. Several times the Burgundian forces set the rams alight, from the advantageous positions on the castle walls , but the duke would not be denied his prize. The fourth ram , finally smashed the gate down , the Bavarian troops hurling themselves into the castle courtyard, brushing away the pitiful defences of the scant remaining retinue of the Burgundians.
Finally the Bavarian host burst into the quarters of the Burgundian leader , only to find , him and his wife, had taken poison , and there faces grinned, in a gruesome display of death , as the poison had left there body's rigid in the rigamortis of death. Hermann ordered the Burgudian leader to be wrapped in the Burgudian flag, which was torn down from the castle , and his body was to be sent to the emperors representative as proof of his loyalty , hoping to receive the prize he sought , beyond all , things , the city of Regensburg.
In the cold light of day , a lone Burgudian noble, now without his house , had escaped the carnage of the town, making it out into the lands beyond , the town , where the detris of combat , lay scattered all around , as the Burgudian supply wagons and personel had been cut down, by the swift Bavarian attack and howled into the cold Italian air,all his overwhelming pain and suffering . None but the birds and crows, which sat on nearby trees, heard his cries , as the wounded nobleman , staggered away into the countryside, to nurse his battlewounds. One day perhaps if he lived , he might form his own house, giving his memories and hatred of this day , to his heirs, or perhaps not , but that was indeed another story.
Turn to Saxony {as Burgundy destroyed as a faction}
Last edited by paladinbob123; June 20, 2018 at 12:32 PM.
The was little to report in the Saxony domains as the rough peace still held on Skara , and the Saxony economy generally started to improve, as the spectre of war departed. There was speculation about when duke lothar would depart, to take his place in heaven , but most believed he had already gone ,in spirit, as his body had withered, and most couldn't even recognise the once proud warlord, that was being cared for, by his family.
In the winter, some of the peoples of the north , saw spectacles of light , supposedly sent by god , some proclaimed, others thought It was a sign from the old gods , but It remained perhaps a signal of change for the empire .

Ulrich fumed with rage as he heard the report about what happened to Edessa and the small garrison he left there from the scout in his tent. He had left Edessa a week before on route to Jerusalem with most of his forces, believing that he needed more personal protection than the recently conquered town. The Turks had exploited this choice and presented Ulrich with a choice. Either to march on to Jerusalem to the council or to head back and retake Edessa. Suddenly a thought occurred to him. If he marched back to Edessa, he would be shown in a positive light in being a ruler who combated the heathens and infidels wherever they might show themselves. It would show everyone that he cared more about the realm than the crown itself. A true noble ruler who protects his people and faith.
Ulrich glanced up towards the scout.
"We shall march back to Edessa. Send word to the Duke of Karntern to head to Aleppo with his forces. I shall then meet with him there and travel to Jerusalem."
Back in Europe, Friedrich had not made it in time for the siege against Parma. The Bavarians made sure to claim all the glory and spoils from the last Burgundian holdout. No matter, thought Friedrich to himself as he marched back north. For all of the rich and bountiful lands of his once main rivals were now his.
