Yes, maybe there is something we are mssing though. I've converted all the files, and edited one. How do I get this to load in the game, or get the game to load at all?

I don't know if it might help

But i also converted all the .BIN files and edited the export_ancillaries as i created a new ancillary.

I'm using the "--io.file_first" in the shortcut command and it works fine.

    My new ancillary shows up.
The +2 chivalry correctly affect the character.
My only problem, but i don't know if it is link to that or my mistake, is the text that did not show up on the right of the ancillary pic.

Sorry, I forgot the MTW2 files need that special character at the beginning of the file.
Here's the fixed version: dead link
    Edit:
I fixed another bug in version 0.7

I've solved the MTW2 not working problem:

I'll assume you have run the unpacker and converted all the files using this tool.

Next, move all the .string files out of the Text folder and into another folder for safekeeping. Make sure you leave all the text files and the 5 files that can not be converted by this tool.

    Voila, MTW2 should now work.

However the traits I am adding do not seem to work...

I used the first version to unpack the text files. Ended up crashing my game after the convert. I had to delete the text files completely because of it.

Now I just have to figure out how to unpack the text directory manually from the pack files. Ugh hah.

Try version 0.71 (you can find it on the .org)

Vlad: Try downloading the files that were released by CA earlier or use the converter (you have to install Python 2.5 beforehand).

    Hi,

I have done a little application to help you edit the .txt.strings.bin files.

Please, don't forget to backup your original file before editing.

Merry Xmas and Happy New Year!

pmcorp I tried using your program. It works for opening and editing the files, but the game wont launch after I open a file even if I don't edit it. The M2TW loading screen comes up and just stays there. When I close M2TW through task manager it says it's not responding.

I haven't tried alpaca's program yet does anyone have any problems with it?

    Alpaca
What is so significant about the strings.bin files? I've been tied up with map making so haven't really caught up on what the issue is with them. Is it just some of them that there is an issue with or all of them? I thought that at least the map ones were simply regenerated from the txt files.

Mr. Breeze, thank you for replying.

I fixed the issue you talked. Please download the updated tool.

Alpaca, I think it is a good idea to have both tools in the same thread since it for the same purpose.

Maybe we could work together to finish our tools.

    Kind regards,

pmcorp: Still, they are separate tools created by different people, and I think your tool probably deserves it's own thread.

wilddog: If you have the text files it's no problem, however the localized versions weren't released so you can only have the English ones. That's what the converter is mainly for (and there are some files missing in the release).
