[3d artists read it!]CA leaves modders a present ...
...a complete MTW2 model in cas format! Together with the new skeleteon!
So if anyone wants to see how the new models look like (and check the polycount, etc) or get a grab on the new skeleton - just open a file called sword_unit.cas form \Models_strat folder using Verigocentrix cas importer
Huge thanks CA! We love you!
BTW. The current polycount, for a single foot soldier is over 1200 tris without a shield (~160 tris), sword (~140 tris) and pouch (~40 tris) models. That's more than twice those of RTW!
there are some more models, like aztec general or european renaisannce-era captain, but they use different skeleteons - more like the RTW ones.

I'm completely noobish when it comes to modelling but just one question: does this mean that different skeletons can be created (like, say, a dwarf skeleton)?
Cheers

Those are the campaign models, they are still in CAS format. All the battle models are still not editable.

Re: [3d artists read it!]CA leaves modders a present ...
Hmm, I'm not saying that all of those are battle models, I'm saying that only the sword_unit.cas might be a battle map unit saved in cas file format. I think it may be some "rubbish" from early stages of developement of MTW2 (when they still used .cas files)
What makes me think so is that the campaign models like generals, captains, assasins, etc, still use the old-looking skeleton, while the swordsmen-unit has a differen't looking one.
However the campaign models still have helluva lot of polys - over 1000 for the assasin!

I can't import any of the CAS files, not even the sample of the sword_unit u described earlier.I downloaded verc's script, put it in 3ds max's script folder but when i run the script from within 3ds max, nothing happens...shouldn't there be ,in the IMPORT dialogue window,a .CAS format in the "Files of type" drop-down?
