Of course Eönwë would not halt your speculations. It is his wish that his message is not forgotten, but heeded, since it contains the answer we have all been looking for. And friend or foe have not yet guessed his mind. No Vala, Ainu or any Child of Ilúvatar has yet...
Rise of Mordor: a total overhaul mod for Total War: Atilla
Writer, rosterer, lore-master and battle balancer for Rise of Mordor
'So do I, and so do all who live to see such times, but that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us.'
I'm a fairly big Tolkien nerd, but I'm having trouble finding any hint for a date, year, season or anything to help. I know you've said time and time again that it isn't, but I'm still reading "don't ask for release date". Are you absolutely sure this isn't just some clever ploy to keep us busy guessing for a release date while you chaps work? I'll keep thinking about this when I have time until the mods released either way. Keep it up, lads!
I'm as sure as there is ash on the plains of Gorgoroth, as there is light in Aman, and darkness in the Unmeasured Deep, that there is a date in the message from the Herald of Manwë

For some reason I'm thinking it'll be in winter. I can't extrapolate, just a gut feeling I get from the poem.
7 December 2016
I would speculate that given the theme of refresh and renew of things starting from a beginning that the release date is actually January 1st, 2017
Release data is in the poem. Can no one read Eönwë's message?

This Mod ain't coming out till next year easy. I don't see them finishing Rohan or Mordor and the elves just near complete i'd say. Got the free peoples as well which we haven't seen any of neither. My prediction April 2017. Perhaps even later. This mod has died abit now without campaign anyways. I even gave my mod award 2016 vote to Medieval 1212ad.
Although I do admit that custom fights with well detailed settlement maps would be fun.
The mod would've been disqualified from the Mod Awards anyways so no worries about voting for Medieval 1212 (they won the Players Choice, so your vote counted).
The mod hasn't really died, its a big disappointment that the mod tools for Attila's campaign are so and unpatched but we're still working hard on creating the models and custom battle balancing. If the big Youtubers host cool tournaments or something it can still/will be a great mod.
In terms of release, only Gondor/Mordor/Dale/Rohan/Isengard are going to be in the first release, the rest will come later.
Because mordor is completely different, guys need more time on models making.I really understand why it takes so long even to release a preview. But many days pass now, shall we know something new?
Sounds legit
i love what you did with riddle, but no i have absolutely no idea what it means. I am bad at these things so that means nothing, but it seems lot of people are clueless.
Would be great actually if you would not tell us when it gets released and just surprise those of us who did not understand the riddle.
Apologies for anyone who's message i may miss or not be able to answer
Simple..
there are 3 parts meaning day-month-year.
So first part;
Guardian of the wood.. what is something that grows from wood? Leafs.. when do leafs grow? Spring.. spring contains 6 letters and if you substract the 4 letters of wood from it you are left with 2. Meaning it will be on the second day of..
Second part. last sentence starts with "not by force" and as this is not star wars, that's an obvious clue. Star Wars day is on May Fourth, so our month must be May.
Last part kind of stands for itself, doesn't need speculation imo. 2016 is nearly over and we wouldn't have this poem if he were to release it in 2018. So my guess is 2017.
Combine it all and you get DD-MM-YY = 02-05-2017
or if he uses the American standard MM-DD-YY = 05-02-2017
So either February fifth of May Second.
