Thread: Pokemon Go

    Default Re: Pokemon Go

Last night I was riding my bike through a big park that seemed to be all but desolate and peaceful. Then I looked around me and realized that it was in fact crowded with people, just standing still and gazing at their phones, or holding them up in front of them and stumbling around like faulty robots. Pretty much in total silence, even for the couples or the groups of friends. One of the stranger things I've seen going around town.

So apparently the Norwegian Labor party, the biggest party in our parliament is infested by Pokemon Go players who catch Pokemon during frequent coffee breaks at work.

I made a profile for my daughter, and we have lots of fun catching them all. She knows what they can evolve into and how to fight at the gym, and I am just the one with the good legs who picks up pokeballs and hatch eggs.

I just think its bad work ethic, and worse to gloat about it in the media.

Pokemon Go isn't even a good game. Reeks of a cheap app.

It's lighthearted fun most of the times with Pokemon Go - and even local/national governmental entities have kept the joke going throughout the past month.

Are people still playing? Would have thought the novelty has worn off by now.
Not like I would waste my phone data on that game... or leave the house.

The game uses very little data from my experience. The bigger issue is battery use.

And yes it's still very popular in Australia at least, but the hype is slowly fading.

well, they removed the tracking system so unless you're in a city it's pretty much impossible for most to play ruraly, but it still has its moments and is free so hey why not

Seems to be a lazy non-game :/ Slenderman version would have been vastly better, moreso when the ritual murders on orders by Slenderman started :o

Japanese Gymnast Racks up Olympian $5,000 'Pokemon Go' Bill in Rio
    by ALYSSA NEWCOMB

Being an Olympic gymnast takes dedication, but so does being a "Pokemon Go" player.

Japanese gymnast Kohei Uchimura said he racked up $5,000 in data roaming charges after playing in Brazil before the game's official release there on Wednesday.

Uchimura caught "Pokemon Go" fever a little later than usual and said he only downloaded the app after arriving in Sao Paulo for pre-Olympic training.

His teammate, Kenzo Shirai said Uchimura "looked dead at the team meal that day" after finding out what his Pokemon wrangling had cost, according to Japan's Kyodo News.

Thankfully the story has a happy ending for the Olympian, who said he explained the situation to his service provider and "lucked out" when they agreed to move him to a flat $30 per day rate.

Now that he has that settled, Uchimura can focus on the big reason he came to Rio — winning that gold medal. Uchimura is the reigning men's all-around gold medal champion and a favorite to pull off the feat in Rio.

"Uchimura may not get any Pokemon, but he will surely get gold," Nikkan Sports predicted.

Yes, he "lucked out". That was close. Being a gold medal prospect obviously had nothing to do with the result
