Volga Bulgaria was a powerful state which was the first nation to defeat the mongols at the Battle of Samara Bend in 1236
But information might be scarce so I think that i might help with that .

The Bulgarians used Cumans cavalry a lot so they can be a skirmish light cavalry unit.

Thanks https://books.google.bg/books?id=tKa...page&q&f=false here is a link that will take you to some unit descriptions like High Status Bulgar Warrior,Siberian Mercenary,and more if you are too lazy + you won't have to wait .So based on this information it seems like Volga Bulgars Archers from 14th-15th century had pretty much the same equipment as their Russian rivals ''ushkuyniki''
