Awesome preview. But isn't it more correct that faction leader bodyguard unit is called "Epirote Despot / Despot of Epirus" than "Epirote Emperor". Epirus was not Empire, but Despotate !

I know that , that is why in the thread title I used despotate but afaik the title despot itself was not really used by the epirote ruler as he also dreamed to become the emperor

A lot of rulers in medieval Europe dreamed to be Emperors. Maybe it is better to use title Despot after all. Current situation is not very favorable for Epirote leader to be called Emperor. In 1212 ruler of Epirus was Michael I Komnenos Doukas and his official title was "Despot". So better go with that title.

Do we need to download an updated version of the mod in order to play this faction?

It is not yet added to the build so you'll still have to play the earlier version.

The purple or blue color (I'm colorblind) of the cape of the Epirote Guard look really beautiful!

Thorolf was thus armed. Then Thorolf became so furious that he cast his shield on his back, and, grasping his halberd with both hands, bounded forward dealing cut and thrust on either side. Men sprang away from him both ways, but he slew many. Thus he cleared the way forward to earl Hring's standard, and then nothing could stop him. He slew the man who bore the earl's standard, and cut down the standard-pole. After that he lunged with his halberd at the earl's breast, driving it right through mail and body, so that it came out at the shoulders; and he lifted him up on the halberd over his head, and planted the butt-end in the ground. There on the weapon the earl breathed out his life in sight of all, both friends and foes. [...] 53, Egil's Saga
I must tell you here of some amusing tricks the Comte d'Eu played on us. I had made a sort of house for myself in which my knights and I used to eat, sitting so as to get the light from the door, which, as it happened, faced the Comte d'Eu's quarters. The count, who was a very ingenious fellow, had rigged up a miniature ballistic machine with which he could throw stones into my tent. He would watch us as we were having our meal, adjust his machine to suit the length of our table, and then let fly at us, breaking our pots and glasses.

So will all the byzantine successor states have the same units? Will these units be available for say Nicaea?

Every successor state will have it's own unique couple of units, but the most will remain the same afaik.

There were previews of early era units for all three successor states, so those units are unique for the respective faction. In terms of high and late era units, those will be the same for all three roman factions.

    @ Ltd.

When we searched the sources and possibilities for tier 1 troops we overlooked some sources.

Seems that the elite cavalry tagma of the Epirotes came from the Principality of Wallachian Thessaly or Great Vlachia, the Thessalian Megalovlachitai Cavalry which should really be added as they were essential shock troops renowned for their bravery.

Btw will the influence that the Angevins/Neapolitans/Italians had in Epirus and Albania in the later periods be represented somehow?
