I've recently been playing Attila with Radious again since I never finished a campaign as the Huns and, y'know, that's sort of the thing you want to do when playing a game called Attila. Radious improves a lot of things but here's a quirk that seems to haunt the game:

My single horde against 4 stacks of Visigoths. Combine this with most factions declaring war on you after a few turns no matter what you do, the Ai being unwilling to make peace even when down to their last settlement and the apparently endless funds it gets very tedious very quickly. I may be able to beat the AI easily enough but my performance takes a nosedive when so many armies are in the field and it takes ages.

What do you do in a situation like this? How can I prevent hordes of AI stacks rushing at me from the fog of war?

Find a mod to remove forced march. It helps 99 out of 100 cases.

It prevents the AI from drawing its forced into a clump to attack, I presume?

Army in forced march mod is not able to initiate attack but it is able to reinforce. AI exploits it by having a stack nearby attacking you, while drawing in from very far away tons of other stacks in forced march mode (which have much greater range) into reinforcement range. It's cheating IMHO.

Removing forced march and this exploitation is no more.

If this is removed, will AI ever attack? since imo it feels they only attack with superior numbers, they rarely attack with 50/50 chances

I have different experiences. I use FotE mod but it does not change the CAI or removes forced marching I think. The AI quite often attacks when it is only slightly superior. But it is also a reasonable behaviour if the AI uses superior power when it attacks. It's a common rule of war, I use it too. I try to flee, often it's successful, then regroup and concentrate own forces. If not you are doomed but rightly so. In my current campaign I lost some generals and once my king because of these cunning AI moves.

BTW in my campaign the AI regularly tries to make peace when it faces superior forces and is reduced to one or two settlements. Only some factions did not, maybe because of the status of the relations, I don't know.
