Thread: [Diadochi] The Assyrian Campaign.

Agathokles enters the city with the Macedonian army.

"Soldiers of Nisbis, you have fought valiantly and bravely, traits I admire greatly. For that I shall

spare you. But in exchange you must disarm yourself, hand over all of your weapons and swear

to your gods that you shall not rise up against the empire again. The family of Belu (if he has any)

shall be spared as well, but they shall be sent to the capital to be under the watch of my brother

Peithon along with any male children of the nobles and officers that are in the city

where they shall be treated well and fairly."

Order: the city shall be spared from massacre but some looting shall be allowed. After

    that we march to Haran.

    ----

After the departure of the mercenaries from Arbela, the mercenary generals decided to send an envoy to Gordyene in advance. after hours of riding some riders approach the city walls of Gordyene

Hail Gordyene, my master, Antiochus, satrap of Babylon, informs you that his army will arrive soon in this province. He asks you to peacefully surrender this province to him, if you do so then this city and its population will be spared from the consequences of wars and people will continue to live in peace. May i remind you that my master has successfully achieved many victories against those who oppose us? surely it would be foolish to resist against a victorious army. If you refuse then the consequences will be harsh, just like it happened in Arbela. Choose wisely, people of Gordyene.

    The rider awaits the answer.

Simmias, the Macedonian captain who had taken control of Gordyene with a tenuous coalition of Assyrian and Macedonian forces thinks on the offer and decides to surrender the city instead of fighting a force that had conquered a large portion of Assyria.

Upon arriving in Gordyene and settling affairs there, the mercenary army is told to disband by envoys of Babylon, the mercenary generals are thanked for their service to Antiochus.

The Armenian army arrives at the city of Haran, and Gorgias, the Macedonian captain who seized control of the province rides out to greet Agathokles with an escort of Macedonian officers and to negotiate with the satrap.

Agathokles and escorts of Macedonian and Armenian officer to talk to Gorgias

"Hail brother, it is great to see that Haran has been pacified under Macedonian rule

once again. You must tell me how you defeated the rebel forces once the land is calm.

With that said I would like you to leave Haran to my hands. Of course in exchange you

will be rewarded greatly. I offer you either a place in my army where you can earn a

name for yourself, be treated like a equal, and be rewarded handsomely. Or I can

give you money in exchange for handing over Haran to me. What do you say to the

offer brother Gorgias? Will you accept my offer?"

Gorgias thinks after hearing of the sum of money the Satrap of Armenia has promised him in exchange for the province for a few moments before nodding. "Only a fool would spurn such a generous offer, Agathokles. Haran is yours."

"The money will come to you soon brother."

OOC: Do I also get Gorias and his army or will I have to roll for that too?

With Assyria mostly pacified the army will head to Nisbis and to head back

    home for now
