Thread: Multiple temples in one city? Possible or not?

    Default Multiple temples in one city? Possible or not?

    As the title says, I wanted to find some way to build multiple temples in a single city. (It seemed kind of silly to me that people with such a multitude of deities could only worship one of them at a time.)

    I've looked through all the text files I could think of that may be related, and tried digging through the forums, but found no answers.

    Has anyone else tried it/figured it out yet?

    You're right, it could.
    Unfortunately I have to go to work now and don't have time to do anything with it.

    Remove the word "temple" (first word) from the building tree name in EDB - and remember to alter tag in EB appropriately. Note that some temples are found in other files but the -show_err switch will point these out to you and you can alter them.

    edb? export descr building?

    And just to be clear,
    do I just have to delete the "temple" part immediately after building, or every other instance as well?
    building temple_of_battle <=== Just here?
    {
    levels temple_of_battle_shrine temple_of_battle_temple
    Or here ^ and here------------^ too?

    Will doing this/building multiple temples cause any problems with battle maps?

    Oh, and what is EB? Export Buildings in the data\text folder? (just found it, lol)

    If you are not familiar with the files I would refrain from coding too much. You would of course need to change the _name entry too in the EB header. Yes, it is the first line you quote - the building tree name not the building level names.

    There is an old mod called "multiple temples mod" (I think) which dealt I believe with this issue (though it does not use the method I describe as this was not then known).

    I do not have time to guide you I'm afraid.

    Best of luck.

    It's okay, you put me on the right track. I actually got it working already.
    I'm still not very familiar with the files, but who is when they start out? The only problem I had is the abbreviations. It's the down side to joining late in the game. Other people have done the hard part and figured things out, but they've also developed a kind of shorthand that makes it hard for a newcomer to understand.

    I actually did look at the RTR files to see their multiple temple code , and the thing that sort of struck me is that by putting MTM_ before the name for each of the 'minor' temples, they achieved the same effect as simply removing the word 'temple.'

    **edit** got it working, then managed to break it again, hahah.
