    Default Region and settlement names

I have changed most province names and some settlement names to make them more authentic. E.g. "Bruges region" becomes "Flanders", "Prague region" becomes "Bohemia"...

    Other changes include:
    - Hamburg has become Lübeck, because in the game its port sits on the Baltic (and AFAIK Lübeck was more influential in the Middle Ages)
    - Frankfurt changed into Mainz
    - Helsinki (founded only in 16th century) changed into Turku

Because of the layout of the M2TW campaign map, some regions do not entirely correspond to historical provinces. I have tried to stick as close to reality as I could. If you see any stupid mistakes, however, please let me know Also, I know nothing about the New World, so let me know if you have suggestions for names in that part of the world (especially Miccosukee :hmmm: )

Download here: http://users.pandora.be/johan_eaf274...TW_Regions.zip or in the TWC downloads section
Unzip and put the file in your mod/data/text folder. Should work with all mods that use the default M2TW map.

(and if THAT doesn't prove it's a reservation that has gone with the times, nothing does )

If you get the chance, would you mind posting a brief tutorial on how you did this? I was looking to do the same thing, and I'll dl yours and see if it works with what I'm playing with, but its always good to know how to do this stuff oneself.

Just open the file imperial_campaign_regions_and_settlement_names.txt that sits in the Medieval II Total War\data\text folder (you need to unpack it first or download it here)

    It looks like this:
    [QUOTE]
    ¬ Generated by localisation spreadsheet
    {North_America}North America
    {Miccosukee}Miccosukee
    {Inverness_Province}Inverness Region
    {Inverness}Inverness
    {Oslo_Province}Oslo Region
    {Oslo}Oslo
    [/]QUOTE]
Do not touch the entries between { }, it will cause the game to crash. Only change the entries next to them.

I tried the text file, but when I play the game it only changes the province names and not the settlement names. What's wrong?

Is this even compatible with the 1.1 patch?
