    Default Questions about stat_pri_armour

    Hi all,

    i've some questions about the EDU string "stat_pri_armour".

    This is wat the EDU intro says about it:

    ;                        defensive skill factor (not used when shot at)
    ;                        shield factor (only used for attacks from the front of left)
    ;                        sound type when hit = flesh, leather, or metal
    Quite thorough, but not fully.

    If i've understood well it works in this way. I will use this example to explain it:

    Code:
    stat_pri_armour  6, 4, 2, flesh
    1) The red number is the armour factor and it is considered each time the unit is attacked independently of the weapon used by the attacker (melee or ranged)

    2) The blue number is the defensive skill factor and it is ADDED to the armour factor just when the unit is attacked in melee. It is NOT considered when the unit is attacked by ranged weapons.

    In the above example, the total difensive number of the unit attacked in melee will be 6 + 4 = 10.
    Instead, the total defensive number of the unit attacked with ranged weapons will be just 6

    3) The green number is the shieald factor and it is ADDED to the previous values just if the units is attacked frontally.

    So, in the above example, the total defensive number of the unit attacked frontally in melee (just melee?) will be 6 + 4 + 2 = 12.

    So my questions are:

    1) Is what i've just wrote correct?

    2) Is the green number (shield factor) considered also if the units is attacked frontally with ranged weapons?

    3) Is the green number (shield factor) considered also if the units is attacked laterally?

    1. Yes, what you wrote is correct.
    2. Shield is taken into account when the unit is attacked frontally with ranged weapons.
    3. Shield is also taken into account when the unit is attacked from the left hand side, this applies for ranged weapons too.

    Seem to recall reading somewhere that gunpowder weapons ignore shields completely, and that AP weapons also halves shield in addition to armour (which is why shielded units also take huge amounts of damage from crossbows). Does anyone remember the exact details?

    Shield = left hand side was a RTW thing I believe. In M2TW it counts for half that value on either side and none at the rear. That example would be +2 on front, +1 on sides, 0 on rear.

    Withwnar, how do you know that? Is it possibile to read this info somewhere in game?
