Anti-snowball effect?
Hello,
in the EDB i found a line which i do not really understand.
The building tree:
building hinterland_monuments_one
monument_ai requires factions { barbarian, carthaginian, eastern, egyptian, greek, roman, } and hidden_resource nobuild
{
capability
{
[...]
}
faction_capability
{
[...]
;Anti-snowball effects
happiness_bonus bonus 2
law_bonus bonus -2
[...]
}
Why? The effect would be more corruption when i capture the enemies capital and not only for me. And what does this have to do with the snowball effect?
How does this work and is it effective?
_____
Thanks

Re: Anti-snowball effect?
It's quite simple really.
Snowball effect happens because in vanilla more lands = more money = bigger armies without penalties.
In XC, more lands = higher corruption = less money and soldiers available.

Re: Anti-snowball effect?
thx.
Does this work as it is intended? I mean is this really so much corruption that you would have trouble at some point?

Re: Anti-snowball effect?
It is one of the many mechanics aimed at balance, along with the others it's pretty effective especially at preventing blitzing.
You can still be rich and powerful in late game but it requires careful planning and economic/FM management.

Re: Anti-snowball effect?
Also a full stack of even just garrison/auxilia tier troops for your borders are prohibitively expensive that overextension is a thing. Even as Rome I had trouble guarding the German border until I pushed across the Rhine and into Germania Magna.
