MCWC XIII - The Vote

Wow it has been a while since we have had one of these! Finally the Monthly Creative Writing Competition is back! There are an excellent array of submissions to vote for so make sure you use both your votes and pick your two favourites. The poll will be open for two weeks so you have plenty of time to decide on the stories you like the most.


If you use the incorrect number of votes please drop me a PM before the deadline with your corrections so we can get the poll sorted. If I don't hear from you and your votes are incorrect they will be discounted in the final results - no one, least of all me, wants that so please make sure to vote for two submissions!

Advertising Rules
  • Advertising is allowed in the official advertising board and in AAR threads. Any other kind of direct advertising to advocate nominees is prohibited. Those who breach this rule shall be disqualified for 3 months.
  • Asking for votes is not allowed and will result in an immediate disqualification and ban of 3 months from the Competition forums.
  • The competition manager will take whatever steps necessary to insure the integrity of the competition.

Now the rules are out the way lets check out the submissions:

Submission 1 Machines
It is about a group of survivors on an alien planet, trying to reach a certain facility. A story about friendship, survival and the power of nature. What can we learn from a world as alien as this? And will we be able to reveal the fate of this world and learn something for our own?

Submission 2 Of Souls
A high-fantasy story set in an original world where human Souls are used to power a type of magic known as 'Soulsmithing'. Volume 2 is soon to start, and with one country marching off to war at the whims of another at the risk of utter destruction events are getting more and more interesting. Join Alfonso, Gavier and a cast of other characters as the world risks facing devastation once more. Even if that can be avoided, the Soulless Days are soon to begin...

Submission 3 Insane Or Broken, But Very Much Dead
What does a story tell when the main character is not a hero? Not a villain? Not an extraordinary person by any means other than he is alive? Is it a dull read? Probably. Now what if this main character, this simple living human, is transported to a world where predators are all at the apex of the chain. Where lust and hunger and pain and joy are all the same emotion? Where the lights of the old world brought ruin to the sky, where scabs now rest that were once oceans, graves lie where cities once towered up to the heavens? Is that a more interesting read? Here's hoping since that is what I have tried to do.

Follow this broken vessel of a man as he combats a world that is not his, senses which deceive him, a mind which is no longer his, and the denizens born to rid his memory forever.

Submission 4 Titanium Core: Borderlands
The galactic war between the Xelanite Dominion and the UEA is in its waning months, but the action is only beginning to heat up as the climax approaches. Tyler Braedan and Titan Company continue their fight against humanity, while at the same time, trying to uncover the truth behind the artifact on board the Centurion. Their quest has brought about the aid of former enemies, and unlikely allies, to their cause, as they continue onward to unravel the Alliance's last-ditch plans to salvage victory from defeat. Along the way, Braedan will find the person behind it all...is someone from his past. But will the recent news from his wife unhinge his pursuit, or will he throw caution to the wind, hellbent on seeking out his long-desired revenge?

Submission 5 The Iron Dynasty
War is breeding, the last remaining Jättar are threatened by the Bakufu. Dvegar are reemerging, a nation in tatters is reassembling and could it be that the youngest member of the Iron dynasty changes the fate of his people ? In this fantasy epic nothing is what it seems like can you thrust one an other ? Find out now.

Submission 6 . Random . Access . Memory .
The Triads of New Hong Kong are becoming a problem and Kobayashi Banking wants them dealt with.
Kobayashi Collection Agent and part time independent corporate investigator Reginald B. Richter is the man for the job
Who knew it would pit him against not only his employers but the rest of the corporate underground as well!
