    The Golden Ages
    “The Golden Ages” modification aims to portray the Medieval World from late 9th century to late 11th century. In Europe that era is part of what historians call “Dark Ages”, but they seem to “forget” that in south, east Europe and in the world around Mediterranean Sea, the world was in its highest peak in financial, political, cultural and military terms. So, in the central Europe we had a variety of states that heritage the political structure of the great Frankish Empire like East Frankia and the Lombard Duchies in Italy. Great Moravia was in its highest power as a state that early embraced Orthodox Christianity to change side and follow Catholicism in later times. In Balkans we had the two most powerful states in entire Europe of that era. The Bulgarian Kingdom that was strong enough to challenge the mighty Roman Empire that had the biggest military power but also the biggest problems in the western hemisphere. Slavic origin states will be forced to play the game of diplomacy between Roman Empire and the influence Pope will have in their regions. The Islamic world now divided in Emirates, parts of the Caliphate only by name but actually fully de facto independent states with their own foreign and domestic policies. In the west, West Frankia gave its place to a vast number of smaller states, each one trying to survive against its neighbors and also expand on their lands. That is the era that Norse people start their most ferocious attacks in the west Europe. Finally a part of them will become vassals of the King of France and create Normandy and invade England of the Saxons, Angles and other tribes. In Spain the struggle for final dominion between Islam and Christendom will allow new political identities to be created. In that era new “hordes” will appear like the Magyars, the Turcoman league and Pechenegs. Empires will crumble and fall like the Khazars . In the east Svevi Rus will appear and become a major power of their part of the world, beginning as vassals of the Khazar Chan but eventually replacing its empire with their own.

    Why Golden Ages idea is reborn?
    Because Attila main campaign map offers all the needed area that we could be able to create in M2TW game engine. Also Attila has a great “horde” playable system that allows players to have direct control of a horde (like Magyars) that is simply not available in previus TW game engines. The Rome 2 celtic and Germanic villages and cities are perfect for west European factions because they had NO stone walls at all! A combination of Attila Sassanid structures with stone walls of eastern empires as they exist in Rome 2 match perfectly in most Islamic factions.
    What GA mod would need?
    A full list of minor factions located in central, north and west Europe plus a list of factions beyond Caspian Sea. We need minor mods that will delay the distraction of walls and cities only by besieging them. We will need someone to be able to use both Attila and Rome 2 settlements and modify them to fit in that era. “The Great Conflicts 872-1071 M2TW modification will be the basis of knowledge and a source of ideas and not only.
    Rome 2 and Attila TW have already the sources to allow us create all the units we need for Golden Ages mod. But since CA/SEGA developers were too lazy to create accurate Carolinian warriors we might need modelers for secondary stuff like weapons and helmets.
    Attila will require also new ship models like Cogs and accurate Dromons.


    Q: What factions are in the mod’s list?

    2: Rebels of Roman Empire (shadow faction)
    3: Bulgarians
    4: Rebels of Bulgarians (shadow faction).
    5: Kalbids/Kalbid Emirate of Sicily (emerging faction)
    6: Emirate of Chandax
    7: Lombardic league (varius Lombardic Duchies)
    8: Kievan Vikings
    9: Normans (emerging/horde faction arriving Italy in 1000AD)
    10: Turcomans (emerging/horde faction arriving in Anatolia in 1000AD)
    11: Magyars (Horde faction)
    12: Petzenegs (Horde faction)
    13: Croatia
    14: Abasids/Abasid Caliphate
    15: Tulunids/Tulunid Emirate of Egypt
    16: Fatimids/Fatimid Caliphate (emerging faction that apears in north Africa)
    17
    : Aghlabids/Aghlabid Emirate of Ifriqya
    18: Kingdom of East Franks
    19: Holy Roman Empire ( faction that replaces Kingdom of East Franks)
    20: Great Moravia
    21: Serbia
    22: Minor "rebel" states. [we need a large list of local tribes per region]
    23: Pope's dominion (non- playable)
    24+ Follow list of west europw minor states.
    Also The CBUR/TGC team will provide events list and tech lines to support this idea.

    You already made Armenians, Slavs and other factions that require minimum changes to fit in our era. Also you can see TGC previews to coppy skins and unit rosters for many main factions.
    I hope that you could find a settlement creator to re-design settlements ussing R2 and Attila buildings, walls and textures plus settlements designs.
    Example: Thessalonike (see attachments).
    As for armor designs i could sent realy soon TGC's ones.

    I wish you would only try to give yourself an idea of how this is received on my part.
    TGC has been in development for how long now?
    And still no release.
    That mod of yours has retained some very special modelling work.
    You know the models I am talking about.
    For how much longer will you deprive the M2TW fan base the pleasure of that work?
    If you can't release TGC, then release the models at least.
    Then you can focus on any mod you like.

    In fact TGC is very close to release. Closer than ever. GA in Attila will be faster because textures, models that are needed are already in game.
    Only settlements need to be done from srcatch but also 90% of the models required are also in R2 and Attila game.
    Only few original textures and shield paterns will be required. Avetis already made a HUGE work for Attila that could also be used in GA.

    Basic Rules that must be followed IF this mod will be released by the modders they will participate.
    1: No fictional units , so no pikemen in the west!
    2: Ellite Units and peseant ones available from the start but will diferent recruitment times and from diferent buildings. The "King's Men " feature MUST continue to exist.
    3: Accurate settlement models.
    4: Maximum historical accuracy on events and units apearence.
    5: Maximum respect in all cultures/civilisations that will be part of the mod.

    NOTTICE:
    I am in the unpleasant situation to inform the following:
    GOLDEN AGES mod MUST use only material that CA/SEGA has already made and material modders -OTHER THAN TGC ONES- will contribute to the project.
    The Great Conflicts 872-1071 UNIQUE material IS OFF LIMITS because:
    1) The material belongs to the original creators that created it and to NO other.
    2) CA/SEGA IS NOT ALLOWED to use TGC consepts and material because :
    a) CA/SEGA has proven that is waiting modders to offer material in order to GAIN MORE MONEY from work that is free of use WITHOUT ANY BENNEFIT to original creators.
    b) TGC uses info and references (designs and other material) that were kindly offered to TGC mod ONLY FOR TGC mod and for educational reasons and for FREE USE. SO I NO CASE CA/SEGA can use them without writen permision of the Historians, artists etc that contributed to TGC mod.
    CA/SEGA thinks that modders are fool enough to make them rich with out personal work of theirs.
    CONCLUSION:
    ANYONE that will contribute to that mod must USE only CA/SEGA material and material that will personaly created by the contributers.
    I will suport the project with the main idea and the unit roster consepts and that's all!
    Unless CA/SEGA changes attidute forward to modders and the games that it sells us this is my finall desision.
