Default Welcome to the Writers' Study!

    Welcome to the Writers' Study!

Come in, sit down, make yourselves comfortable. The guided tour will begin in just a moment. If you would rather not wait for the tour, feel free to take a look around yourselves, of course – if you have any questions, our friendly and helpful staff will be happy to answer them.

Basic information can be found in our FAQ, here, conveniently located in our Lounge.

The Writers' Study is full of After Action Reports (AARs) and stories. For suggestions of active, ongoing AARs to read, visit the Advertising Board. If you would like a list of stories that have been well received in the past, and have won competitions – and to find out who the Legends of the Writers' Study are – our Hall of Fame is precisely what you need. Our authors would be very grateful if you would comment on AARs and stories you like (you will need to register and log in to do this, but that – like the rest of the Writers' Study Experience – is completely free!)

If you would like to start an AAR or story, go ahead! Please don't be put off by worries that your AAR or story might only last a chapter or two – we have many short AARs and stories, and many unfinished AARs and stories. Trying stuff out to see if it works is positively encouraged.

If you would like to know more about writing AARs and stories, the Critic's Quill has all the advice you could possibly want. Some of it is even useful. (Older articles can be found here.) There are also many interesting reviews with which you can while away those free hours days weeks.

For the more competitive among you, we have competitions: the Monthly After Action Report Competition (MAARC), and the Monthly Creative Writing Competition (MCWC). And if you'd rather not have to write so much, we have the perfect contest for you – Tale of the Week!

If you have any questions, comments, or feedback, or if you just want to chat, head over to our Chat Thread. Alternatively, if you prefer, you can begin a new thread in the Lounge for your question.

We look forward to meeting you.
