Just wondering, what's the use of night attacks? Does it give you any bonuses or is it just to show how cool flaming arrow looks in the dark?

If your general have the trait 'night fighter', he will get 1+ command when fighting at night. And if you attack at night, you will also block out any possible reinforcements.

Ahh, neat little trick then, thanks.
Also, your general can eventually get Nocturnal, which gives an extra +3 to his command during Night, which stacks with Night Fighter, giving you a total of +4 Command for night attacks. Very useful, that.
Although the reinforcement stopping is probably the best thing about it. I won't use a commander unless he has night fighter any more. It's great to use for when the AI moves out several medium-sized armies that are close to one another, or for when they bring up a new army to help a besieged city. Just hit night attack and attack the weakest of them, then move on to the stronger one next.
