Heroes? I have not played MTW so I'm not sure exactly what you mean. But if an army without a general wins a great victory, or a succession of victories; you get the oppurtunity to adopt him in to your family. Is that what you mean?
What do we mean by patriotism in the context of our times? I venture to suggest that what we mean is a sense of national responsibility ... a patriotism which is not short, frenzied outbursts of emotion, but the tranquil and steady dedication of a lifetime.
