    Default How to run with Steam/battle crash fix

    Hello all,

    Since I, like many Steam users came close to a nervous breakdown trying to get this wonderful mod (and others) to work, I thought I would post the easy fix I found. I initially installed the mod using the kingdoms workaround by renaming the IB2 folder to "americas" or "crusades" then launching it from Steam, but I kept having a crash to desktop every battle. This is an easy fix that worked for me:

    1) Run IB2_Vandalorum_II.exe, install into the normal mod folder --> C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Medieval II Total War\mods

    2) Open the IB2 folder ---> C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Medieval II Total War\mods\IB2

    3) Right click on Executable.exe.bat then select Edit.

    4) The file will open in notepad and should display the following:

    @echo off

    rem Game Start Up file by gigantus
    cd ..\..
    start kingdoms.exe @mods\IB2\Configuration.cfg

    5) Change kingdoms.exe to medieval2.exe so that it looks like this:

    @echo off

    rem Game Start Up file by gigantus
    cd ..\..
    start medieval2.exe @mods\IB2\Configuration.cfg

    6) Save and exit.

    7) In the same folder is a similar file named Executable.bat. Repeat steps 3 - 6 with this file.

    8) Double click on Executable.exe.bat to launch IB2.

    9) Enjoy this wonderful mod.

    This happened to work for me. No battle crashes, no missing menus/maps/unit cards etc. Thanks to the mod team for scratching my Rome itch!
