    Default Sea Power Mod [In development]

    OBJECTIVE
    The objective is to create a more authentic and historical gameplay.

    HISTORICAL CONTEXT
    Europeans powers already had 1st rated ships (Ships of the Line) at the start of the 18th century.

    MOD CONTENT
    - It allows for the construction of Ship of the Line ships at game start.
    - In order to allow balance the Naval technology will be change to allow more advantages in fire power, accuracy, speed, and maneuverability.
    - There will also be a limit set for the number of ships that can be built consistent with historical records.
    - The cost of the Ship of the Line vessels will be increase to had a premium for protecting them.
    - Ship of the Line vessels are restricted to European powers & the United States.

    DOWNLOAD
    Sea Power Beta1.7z

    INSTALLATION
    1- Unzip file and place in your main Data folder
    2- add "Mod Pike_SeaPower.pack" to your user.empire_script.txt
    Directory: C:\Users\User\AppData\Roaming\The Creative Assembly\Empire\scripts


    STATE OF THE MOD
    - It is currently in development in conjunction with changes for the CAI overall for Imperial Splendour.
    - If you are an Imperial Splendour player, be patient the CAI Overhaul will be available for public Beta Testing
    - Future changes to the mod will based on feedback in this thread and on the open beta testing for Imperial Splendour.
    - In the meantime, I am posting this here to get some feedback on what you would like to see in this mod prior to release.

    Good luck with this ambitious project. I hope to get back to IS some day.

    In the mean time I hope you find the following useful brain food it was an idea pitched to the Darthmod sea mod half a decade ago. At the time I was think with limitations to the game engine it would be impossible to accurately depict the change in naval gunnery so I posted the following:

    The one thing which bugs me with the vanilla game is no 1st rates in 1700.
    Perhaps instead of adding exotic ships you could add different generic ships to chart the changes in the rates as the 18th century progressed. So as you develop tech a new 1st rate becomes available etc.

    Historical example:
    UK rates
    Rate 1697 1760 1802
    1st 94-100 100 100-120
    2nd 90-96 90 90 & 98
    3rd 64-80 64-80 64-80
    4th 44-64 50-60 50-60
    5th 26-44 30-44 30-44
    6th 10-24 20-30 20-28

    I've only selected three dates as to paint a very broad brush stoke to the changes in guns. later ships would have carronades. Incidentally Britain had 6 seaworthy 1st rates in July 1696.

    I look forward to sea what happens with this mod.
