There's no way these guys are as potentially dangerous as the far-right looney militiamen in the US, but that doesn't mean one should just discount and dismiss them as harmless. Mobs can form easily, it's been shown. The point, however, is that there is no Hitler to lead them and translate such a movement into something political and with real teeth. The whole white supremacy and Aryan nation thing would never be adopted in Germany again, the masses aren't so easily fooled anymore. However, that doesn't mean anti-immigrant groups can't rise up and begin to steer majority public opinion. These so called "Antifa" groups are as extremist as the right wing is. Ideologically they are turning around themselves for decades now they have the same limited point of view as the right wing has. They claim to have noble causes, but in many cases in the recent past they are actually the ones igniting violence and they are responsible for many criminal assaults as well. To call for them for protection would mean to exchange one evil against another.
The monopoly of enforcing the law is with the police and the police alone. Contemplating about turning to the "Antifa" to bring order would mean to give up the fight for good.

1) Do you need Antifas patrolling your neighborhood?

2) Antifas battling the Neonazis on the streets of Germany is so 1930s. If it actually gets to that, past experience seems to indicate it won't end well.

Antifas, Neonazis and the non-integrated minorities are basically people unable to fit into a civilized society. The common cure for all 3 would be a comprehensive mechanism of integrating them by teaching them the proper values and enforcing the compliance with the existing laws.

But on topic, so far antifa has clashed and rioted more in Finland than anyone else. When there has been peaceful protest against open borders and unlimited refugee flow, antifa groups have come on spot and started messing to the point of ending up clashing with cops and rioting. On independence (6th of december 2015) day it escalated to the point police shot rubber bullets at antifa crowd after they kept on throwing bottles and flares against police orders to stop, while the other protest parade went on peacefully. But thats another antifa yearly tradition anyway, 2014 december they smashed small company windows for no reason whatsoever. But kids gotta have fun while they're young i suppose.

From 2014 Independence Day antifa celebrations downtown Helsinki next to Presidential Palace. Turned into sports jackest advertisement as a joke.
