The Invasion of Deep Misty Mountains
    August, 3017 T.A.

    dice log

    First Battle
Fangorn army (3 companies, ents) commanded by Treebeard vs Misty Mountains army (8 companies, orcs) commanded by The Balrog

The spy sneaks into Moria and overhears the orc chiefs discussing many of their defense plans (roll: 6, success, +1 on 2 rounds).

The Dimrill Gate is smashed apart once again and the ents storm in. Thousands of orcs are crushed and torn to bits (6+1-1+2+1=9 – 2+3=5 = 4). Cave trolls suddenly appear and slaughter a company of tree-herders (4+1-1+2+1=7 – 5+3=8 =
-1). The ents decide to fall back a little, but then the Balrog charges out of the shadows and cuts them all down with his flaming sword (3+1+2=6 – 6+3=9 = -3). Even Treebeard is slashed to pieces during the carnage (roll: 3, killed). This is a crushing defeat for Fangorn.

    Aftermath
    Deep Misty Mountains
4 companies commanded by the Balrog of Moria
2 companies commanded by High Chief Uglag
    Chief Azog
    Chief Lunug

    The South Rhun Campaign
    August, 3017 T.A.

    dice log

    First Battle
Harad army (6 companies, men) commanded by Chief Utbah vs Rhun army (6 companies, men) commanded by Khan Huz

The spy is spotted by the camp guards who give chase. But the spy mounts his black stallion and just manages to escape capture (roll: 3, failure).

Drums roll and trumpets blare as the Haradrim advance upon the Easterlings. The mumakil charge and utterly destroy the infantry lines of the enemy (5+1=6 – 2+1=3 = 3). The mumakil withdraw to allow the Southron infantry to enter the fray. The Easterlings manage to reform their battle line and repel the Haradrim (6+1=7 – 6+1=7 = 0). Utbah leads his lancers in a flank attack, which slaughters a thousand Easterlings (3+1=4 – 1+1=2 = 2). Khan Huz and his last remaining company flee from the field of battle and head for North Rhun (6+1=7 – 6+1=7 = 0). This is a clear victory for Harad.

    Second Battle
Harad army (6 companies, men) commanded by Chief Ha’ashim vs Rhun army (4 companies, men) commanded by Chief Borlach

Ha’ashim laughs maniacally as his mumakil charge and run down all the enemy warriors before him (6+1=7 – 2+1=3 = 4). None survive as horse archers ride out to pursue them. Chief Borlach is quickly crushed beneath the foot of one of the great war beasts (roll: 1, killed). This is a literally crushing victory for the Haradrim.

    Third Battle
Harad army (6 companies, men) commanded by Chief Jibran vs Rhun army (2 companies, men)

The last enemy army splits up, with one company of elite pikemen deploying on a hill while a company of javelinmen goes forth to skirmish with the Haradrim. Jibran and his bodyguard quickly charge and annihilate the javelinmen (3+1=4 – 3 = 1). He then has the Southron infantry charge up the hill, which tires them. The Easterling pikemen quickly slaughter them (2+1=3 – 6 = -3). Jibran and his horsemen then charge up the hill, taking heavy losses (2+1=3 – 4 = -1). The enemy break and flee but are run down and shown no mercy (5+1=6 – 2 = 4). A pyrrhic victory.

    Fourth Battle
Harad army (6 companies, men) commanded by Chief Utbah vs Rhun militia (2 companies, men)

The enemy militia also splits up, with one company of infantry out in the open while a company of wainriders wait hidden behind a hill. Utbah sends his men to quickly destroy the Easterling infantry (4+1=5 – 4 = 1). They do this, but then the enemy chariots charge and slay over a thousand Haradrim (1+1=2 – 5 = -3). Utbah curses and immediately sends his mumakil into the fray. The mighty war beasts easily obliterate the wainriders (5+1=6 – 2 = 4). Another pyrrhic victory.

    Aftermath

    South Rhun
6 companies at Upper Khand commanded by Chief Utbah
6 companies at Upper Khand commanded by Chief Ha’ashim
3 companies at Upper Khand commanded by Chief Jibran
    2 companies
    Harad Spy
    Harad Assassin

    North Rhun

6 companies commanded by Khan Huz
    1 company

    2 Harad Assassins

    Movement
The 3 and 2 company armies merge to form a 5 company army led by Chief Jibran. The host at South Rhun now invades North Rhun (plains) to lay siege on Mistrand. ETA: 2 days.

    The North Rhun Campaign
    October, 3017 T.A.

    dice log

    First Battle
Harad army (6 companies, men) commanded by Chief Utbah vs Rhun army (6 companies, men) commanded by Khan Huz

The Haradrim surround the town of Mistrand and lay siege. After constructing some rams and ladders, Utbah orders his men to attack. They rush the walls as Easterling archers rain arrows down upon them, causing some casualties (5+1-1=5 – 6+1=7 = -2). The ladders are raised and troll-men assault the walls, driving back the enemy archers (5+1=6 – 4+1=5 = 1). Rams smash open the gates and mumakil charge in (2+1=3 – 1+1=2 = 1). But elite pikemen skewer the great beasts, slaughtering all of them (2+1=3 – 5+1=6 = -3). Huz launches a counterattack with his chariots that devastates the rest of Utbah’s army. With only a company remaining, Chief Utbah orders a retreat. This is a clear defeat for Harad.

    Second Battle
Harad army (6 companies, men) commanded by Chief Ha’ashim vs Rhun army (4 companies, men) commanded by Khan Huz

Meanwhile, Ha’ashim’s men try to rush the walls with their ladders. Enemy archers shred most of them to pieces with flaming arrows (2+1-1=2 – 6+1=7 = -5). Terrified, the Haradrim route and Ha’ashim goes with them to regroup. A crushing defeat.

    Third Battle
Harad army (5 companies, men) commanded by Chief Jibran vs Rhun army (4 companies, men) commanded by Khan Huz

The last army of Haradrim also attempt to charge the walls, but Khan Huz with his chariots launches a surprise attack on their flank. The army quickly collapses and heavy losses are suffered (2+1-1=2 – 4+1=5 = -3). Jibran orders a retreat. Another crushing defeat for Harad.

Overall, this has been a dark day for Harad.

    Aftermath

    Retreating to South Rhun
1 company commanded by Chief Utbah
1 company commanded by Chief Ha’ashim
2 companies commanded by Chief Jibran

    North Rhun
4 companies commanded by Khan Huz
    1 company

    2 Harad Assassins

    Movement
The spies at South Rhun travel to North Rhun (plains). ETA: 2 days.

One assassin at North Rhun and the assassin at South Rhun both move through Gathod (plains with road) and enter Sagathavuld (plains). ETA: 3 days.

The depleted armies will all merge to form a 4 company army commanded by Jibran. When the two fresh armies arrive at South Rhun, Utbah and Ha’ashim take command of them. ETA: 2 days remaining.

    Diplomacy
"Absolutely not!" says the ent representative to Jalal. "We have learned that you are not protecting any forests from the Easterlings. Harad has no forests! Fangorn will not give any wealth to you (roll: 1-1=0, totally rejected). Your lies are despicable! Never ask payments from us ever again. Leave now before I tear you limb from limb!"

    Diplomacy with Lothlorien
The dwarven diplomat approaches the garisson leader of Orophien, and tell him:"Greetings, noble one.I come from Erebor, and I have a message for your people. How about establishing trade between our realms?I'm sure both our peoples will be benefitted from this". The garrison leader replies:"I have no problem with this..but what will my leader say?" Then,he tells a horseman to go to the king of the Elves to notify him of the dwarves' request.[7]The next day,he returns and says to his garisson leader:"My lord agreed to establish trade between us and the Dwarves.Tell that to the dwarven ambassador". So he tells this to the dwarven diplomat who, satisfied, leaves the Elven fortification.

    The Invasion of West Enedwaith
    November, 3017 T.A.

    dice log

    First Battle
Harad army (6 companies, men) commanded by Chief Yaman vs Isengard army (8 companies, uruks) commanded by Lord Ugluk

The spy is quickly caught by the guards and cruelly tortured. He breaks down and tells them of the Haradrim invasion (roll: 1, failure, killed, -1 on 1st roll). The spy is executed and the surprised uruks rush out to the beach to confront the forces of Harad. They arrive even before Yaman sets foot on shore. Uruk crossbows fire and slaughter a thousand Corsairs (3+1-1-1=2 – 3+1=4 = -2). Once the Southrons land, the uruks charge and cause more casualties (4+1=5 – 5+1=6 = -1). Some troll-men of Harad drive back the uruks long enough for a few Haradrim companies to gain the upper-hand (4+1=5 – 2+1=3 = 2). Uruk berserkers enter the fray and tear the troll-men to pieces. The rest of the Haradrim army collapses and is cut down (2+1=3 – 5+1=6 = -3). Luckily, Yaman manages to get in a boat and row for his life back to the fleet (roll: 6, survives). This is a clear defeat for Harad.

    Second Battle
Harad army (6 companies, men) commanded by Khan Khuzayma vs Isengard army (6 companies, uruks) commanded by Lord Ugluk

The other spy manages to avoid the guards and hide amidst the shadows of the officers’ tents. He overhears Ugluk discussing many of his battle plans to his comrades (roll: 6, success, +1 on 2 rolls). The spy sneaks away to inform the Khan.

Crossbow bolts rain from the sky as the Southrons come ashore, causing heavy losses (4+1+1-1=5 – 5+1=6 = -1). The Khan has his men form a shield wall to repel the enemy missiles and then advance upon the uruks (3+1+1=5 – 4+1=5 = 0). The Haradrim close with the enemy and a fierce battle rages (2+1=2 – 2+1=2 = 0). The uruks eventually break through the Southron battle line and the Khan orders his warriors to fall back to the fleet (1+1=2 – 2+1=3 = -1). This is a close defeat for Harad.

    Aftermath

    West Enedwaith
6 companies commanded by Lord Ugluk

    Harad spy
    Trade Post

    Retreating to Northern Belegaer
4 companies commanded by Khan Khuzayma
    Chief Yaman

    Movement
The empty Harad fleet sails through Middle and Southern Belegaer before arriving at West Bay of Belfalas. ETA: 6 days.

The spy moves through Northern Belegaer and comes ashore to Minhiriath. ETA: 4 days.

No, because mountain ranges are impassable borders. There must be a passable border between two factions for trade to occur. Cheers! Cats

PS: I think when Turn 16 ends tomorrow I’ll put the game on hiatus until Rogue returns.

    Arnor Restored!

Under the effective leadership of Chieftain Aragorn, heir of Isildur, the Kingdom of Arnor is reborn. The Dúnedain population has recovered and these proud descendants of Númenor have rebuilt their old sites. The fortress of Amon Sûl has been resurrected upon the ruins of Weathertop. The abandoned ruins of Annúminas is repopulated now and a majestic city graces the shores of Lake Evendim once again.

Aragorn takes up a crown, becoming King over these lands. The people prosper under his wise rule and wealth flows in. The men of the north rally to the banners of Arnor, forming armies that will hopefully drive away the orcs and perhaps take the fight to Mordor itself...

    Game Effects
Eriador is renamed Arnor. Arnor’s capital is Annuminas at Evendim. Arnor receives 3 armies at Evendim and 50 wealth.

    Army of the Dead

“Fight for me, and I will hold your oaths fulfilled!”

    Game Effects
Arnor receives a free army at Dunharrow region with a +10 bonus on all combat rolls which King Aragorn takes command of. The Army of the Dead can be used for 3 campaigns and then it will disappear.
