Default Sub Mod: The Wisdom of the Elder Days

May Eru Aradan bless my work and amend it!
    - Yavanna Kémentari

Contents I have collected a bunch of quotes, mainly from the Silmarillion, that I tought where missing in vanilla FATW.
I tried to come up with as many quotes from the Valar as possible, but those really don't talk that much.

This is just a very small thing that barely deserves the name "sub mod", but the Silmarillion offers such a multitude of poignant statements, sometimes of great beauty and power, it would be quite a pity if they weren't present.
I hope, this might even inspire some folks to read the Silmarillion.

Some notable authors that had few quotes featured or weren't present at all:

    • Feanor (lots of warmongering ranting!)
    • Beleg Cúthalion
    • Melian
    • Galadriel (There are NO quotes of hers in FATW!?!)
    • Morgoth
    • some Valar (Manwe, Yavanna, Aule)

My favourite: Excerpts from the Lay of Leithian, including Fingolfin challenging Morgoth and Finrod's duel with Sauron
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
    “Come, open wide,
dark king, thy ghastly brazen doors!
Come forth, whom earth and heaven abhors!
Come forth, O monstrous craven lord,
and fight with thine own hand and sword,
thou wielder of hosts of banded thralls,
thou tyrant leaguered with strong walls,
thou foe of Gods and elvish race!
I wait thee here. Come! Show thy face!”

"Then the gloom gathered: darkness growing
in Valinor, the red blood flowing
beside the sea, where the Noldor slew
    the Foamriders, and stealing drew
their white ships with their white sails
from lamplit havens. The North wind wails.
The wolf howls. The ravens flee.
The ice mutters in the mouths of the sea.
The captives sad in Angband mourn.
    Thunder rumbles, the fires burn,
a vast smoke gushes out, a roar –
and Felagund swoons upon the floor."

Furthermore titles and 'cognomina' have been added if possible, thus e.g. Elrond is no longer featured as "Elrond Half-Elven", but ""Elrond Half-Elven, Lord of Imladris"

    Installation
Simply extract the .rar-Archive into the RTW main directory.
There should be no need to make any backups, the mod comes with a copy of FATW vanilla files. See the README for further information.

    Thanks to
    - Professor John Ronald Reuel Tolkien (of course!)
    - Christopher Tolkien for editing and publishing his father's works
    - the FATW team for the awesome mod
    - Aradan in particular for helping the noob modder that is me with advice

I'd appreciate your feedback, and if you kindly pointed out any bloody typos I made.

    Cheers,
    Thangaror

I would rather have a memory that is fair but unfinished than one that goes on to a grievous end.

And here was me hoping for a full second age submod.

(After the Fourth Age, the most suitable for a TW game imo, mostly because we know little about it and all the major players were of similar power)

BTW, it would be nice if you could just add a short disclaimer to the OP stating that this is your own work and any requests for support while using it should go to you, rather than the FATW team.

Not that this mod changes enough to cause any crashes (yet ), but its best to be as clear as possible about things, thanks!
