Any idea when there might be a tutorial/guide?
Any idea when there might be a tutorial/guide?
I am certainly not an authority to answer that question, but I can say that m y tutorial is already in the making. Heck, if you take into account all notes I've been keeping from when we started trying to get the problem solved, a tutorial has been in the making for quite a while now.
I want to clarify some things though. As far as said tutorial goes:
1) I consider myself an inexperienced amateur in the relevant field. I will only put in an fine looking and quite detailed article some quick and superficial tricks I've learnt from the true masters.
This means that the slightest problem might not get a proper solution, even if the tutorial works.
2) Which brings us smoothly to the second point. This solution is intended to work for Linux, not Mac. I have no idea if the root of the problem in Mac is the same and a long and tiring process might be needed to find it for Mac.
3) To close this with something positive: I have it in my plans to post it before Friday.
Anyway I hope that it works for Mac too and that we'll hit two birds with one shot (Greek saying, you get the meaning).

That sounds great, hopefully us mac users get lucky
compare this list whit your own list that did not work in lunix and if they are the same I think the root issuse is the same on mac

You are almost certainly right on this. That's where the procedure started for Linux and that's where it is already starting for Mac. This means that the solution will work for Mac too, but it's a bit early to say with confidence. A Mac tester in the other thread says the solution that worked for Linux didn't work for him.
One step at a time. There are indeed good signs ahead though!

Works:
Erebor
Rivendell (but you can't play it because the bridges are buildings so you can't cross them)
Dol Guldur
Hobbiton
Does not work (crashes):
Black gate
Cair Andros (but the historical battle at Cair Andros works)
Edoras
Helms deep
Minas tirith
Moria
Osgiliath Rivercrossing
West Osgiliath
How can I try these settlements? There are not listed in the custom battle menu:
Caras Galadhon
East Osgiliath
Minas Morgul
Goblin town
Amon sul
Carn dum
Henneth Anul
Barad Dur
Pelargir
It would be best to test these settlements in the campaign. I wouldn't know about custom battles, because I only tested in the campaign, but I believe there might be some difference in how they work (small chances, but still). This is further backed up by the fact that Cair Andros doesn't work for custom battle, but does work for the Historical Battle.
So, now, I will explain how I did in the most time-saving manner I could find.
1) I split the settlements between the ones held by evil factions and the ones held by good factions.
2) When I wanted to test an evil settlement I started a campaign with Gondor. When a good settlement with Isengard*.
3) I did what is described in this post, when starting with Isengard. You can do the same thing with Gondor by altering where you add the relevant line and what unit you add (Gondor Catapult).
4) You can find the right coordinates by placing the mouse pointer next to the settlement, opening the console and pressing: show_cursorstat
5) Move the character with the catapult there and attack.
[6) The other way -not editing the descr_strat file- is to add the Catapult by opening the console and pressing: create_unit name Ugluk "Isengard Catapult".]
*If the settlement belonged to either Gondor or Isengard, I simply chose another faction.
These instructions are written somewhat hastily (and I'm sorry for that), but if you want further and more detailed ones, just say so. At first this all might sound like greek to you, but believe me it's easier than it looks.
Important note: It would be best if you could post your replies (both the one you did here and the new ones) in the relevant thread where grand guru makanyane will see it and respond. AFAIK both me and atthias aren't very well familiarized with the program that fixes all this (IWTE).

Can some1 help me.When i launch TATW DAC it wont turn on it is just black screen and then game crashes
Hey guys, I fixed both the settlements in the campaign and in the custom battle menu. I used ITWE and I applied the same changes that were done on the Minas Tirith settlement, and it worked! I haven't tested all the settlements in the campaign but all that have been reported as crashing should work now. To apply the patch, download the two files listed and replace the according folders inside the settlements folder of the TATW mod. Let me know if this fix work for you guys too. It should work for Linux as well.

So I have installed all of the files through wine - when I do this I map the .exe directly into my MTW Collections App. However, when I try to enable the mod, nothing happens. MTW 2 loads as if i haven't installed anything. I have also tried installing it the other way - saving the wine files to my desktop, then adding them to the mods folder, still nothing. Any suggestions?
Hey guys,
Wondering if any one is able to play MOS. MOS loads but when I end the turn it crashes. Any help would be appreciated!
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
Also, has anyone been able to play DAC successfully, (without graphic glitch)? If anyone could guide me because I have MTW2 from the app store.

@vconesa
Hey!
I am assuming that you are on Mac and have done the ITWE fix. Do you know how to unpack the game on mac because I can't seem to find the .bat files for unpacking the game.
Thanks!

Anyone got DAC running fully? I've got 1.2 installed and on the go, but overtime i launch into a siege on the campaign map with any of the DAC new Castle/City models it crashes.. I'm guessing it's the same issue which is causing Custom Settlements to Crash on TATW with mac as the new DAC settlements are essentially Unique settlements. I've spoken to the dudes on the DAC forum, and can't seem to get a fix.
Wondering if it's worth bothering with DAC, anyone got a fully working version?
Thanks for this! Don't mean to be a ** but When Mordor attacks W.Osgiliath from E.Osgiliath, they deploy outside the walls of the East side of the city, and are unable to get inside to fight. Any way of sorting this? Must be something to do with the Deployment zone.
Thanks
If anyone could show me how to install DAC without graphical glitch in the champaign that would be much appreciated!
