Default Special traits & legendary heirlooms

Released, here is the download link: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfil.../?id=563269175

Here is a mod overview from TotalWarZone: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q1O0mfJ-VF4
Big thanks to him for making it!

The mod brings you a completely new feature: „Quests“ in form of legendary heirlooms and special traits for most of the factions in the grand campaign and AoC.

Example: Remember the big Winged Helmet the Pictish leader is wearing? Well, that one is now a special heirloom of the royal Pictish bloodline in form of a trait with special bonuses. It has three levels and you need to achieve certain requirements (winning defensive or attacking battles, gaining heroic victories, sacking, razing executing prisoners, building up a huge treasury and more....) to unlock the next level. The requirements are specified in the trait description. The new traits are unique for your faction leader, but don`t fear, once he dies the traits will not be lost forever, but your heir will inherit them and forge a legend of his own.

Those heirlooms are unique for each faction and should simulate a legendary object of great worth. The heirlooms include the Niblung Hoard (Burgundians), Godan`s Sword (Langobards), the King`s Dragonship (Danes) and many more….

The special traits should simulate the reputation the faction has and work similar to the heirlooms. For example, the Franks can have the reputation "Unbeatable", Saxons have "The Fear", the Alans "Spirit of Independence"....

Here are some pictures of how it looks in game. The number behind the trait indicates which level you have achieved so far.

    Included factions so far:
All factions of the Grand Campaign and AoC, except for White Huns and desert factions.
I`m working on the remaining ones, but I can`t think of something interesting for them so far… If anybody has good suggestion for heirlooms or special traits, I`d be glad to hear them

Update 30. January: I have added Special Traits & Heirlooms to the Sicily faction in AoC. To see them and play with them you need MoonHoplite`s awesome mod: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfil.../?id=584920802

Update 3. February: As I am a huge fan of Wiid`s work, here are the Traits & Heirlooms submods for his Kingdom Under Heaven series:

    Alans version: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfil.../?id=612105936
    Tanukhids version: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfil.../?id=614657582

The First Order, which replaces the Alans will get "The First Order" and "In His Name" as traits and the sword of the archangel Michael as legendary heirloom.
The First Crusade, which replaces the Tanukhidswill get "The First Crusades" and "Pilgrims of the Lord" as traits and the sword of the archangel Gabriel as legendary heirloom.

The Traits & Heirlooms work similar to those in the main mod, which means they can get higher lvls and are inherited.

In the interests of balance, you may want to introduce some negative traits so that a general or faction doesn't become too OP. For instance, the Nibelung Hoard could come with an large opinion malus from the WRE and Huns, Godan's Sword could come with a hit to Cunning, and so forth.

I actually thought about the same thing, especially for the Niblung Hoard. Initially, I wanted it to give a weaker version of the ERE faction trait (+ x% interest rate) and a diplomativ penalty, but I am having difficulties to get generals to apply effects to the faction. Tried general_to_faction in a lot of variations, but didn`t work out. Would be happy if someone could help me in this

And yeah, balance will be the point which still needs the most work

can you upload it to mediafire please?

    Did some more balancing:

    - mainly decreasing bonuses on the first and second levels and making it a bit harder to gain the final level
    - added some maluses to balance some strong positive effects
    - Changed the way the mod works for the Huns. Every Hunnic general will now have a faction trait which gives small bonuses, only Attila will have the special heirlooms. He will have three strong ones (Bow, Sword and Armour) and they will be triggered depending on the way you structure your army (many archers or swordsmen) and whether you are the attacker or defender

Looking good! Passing on a question from TenTigers over at /r/totalwar on Reddit:

Do the levels pass on to the heir; lets say I have a lvl 2 trait, when the leader dies does the heir then get the lvl 2 trait or does he start at lvl 1?

Didn`t even know the mod was talked about on reddit

To answer the question: No matter the lvl of the trait, when the faction leader dies, the heir will start of with the basic lvl 1 traits again.

    There you go: http://www.mediafire.com/download/81...heirlooms.pack

Had to fix a problem with Attila`s heirlooms first.

Edit: (That one here is old, I won`t update it)

Because of the great work made by Moon Hoplite in unlocking the Theme of Sicily in AoC, I have added Special Traits & Heirlooms to the Sicily faction in AoC.

The Emperor Constantine (and the faction leaders following him) will now have:
    1) The Imperial Army
    2) The Emperor
    3) Reclamation of the West

All of them can be leveled up and have unique bonuses and descriptions like all the other traits added in the mod.

As a small bonus and to enhance the background story of the mod, the former strategos of the Theme, Vitalian, will have a unique trait with a small backstory, so check him out

To see them and play with them you need MoonHoplite`s awesome mod: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfil.../?id=584920802 Give this man your support, he did awesome work!

    Why not use steam workshop?

I have quite a number of mods now and it is too much of a hassle to keep them all up to date on mediafire.
