MCWC XIII - Submission/Nomination Thread

This is the submission/nomination thread for MCWC XIII! The submission deadline is the end of March.

Eligibility

• The submitted story must be at least 1,000 words long, or be a serialised story or collection of short stories that have two updates of 500 words or more each in the submission period 1st November 2015 onwards.
• The first place winner of the previous competition cannot compete in this current competition.
• Only one submission per person.
• The submission of pre-published work is prohibited. Any story found to have been published offsite will be disqualified.
• Once the submission period has ended there will be a one week, multi-poll vote to decide the winners.
• If there are less than 5 nominations, the submission period is extended for one week, followed by a poll with reduced rewards. If less than 3 stories are nominated, the competition continues indefinitely until at least 3 stories have been submitted.
• Authors can, and are encouraged too, submit their own work. If you see somebody else's work you would like to nominate, please ask for the author's approval first or encourage the author to nominate the story!

Advertisement Rules

• Advertising is allowed in the official advertising board and in story threads. Any other kind of direct advertising to advocate nominees is prohibited. Those who breach this rule shall be disqualified for 3 months.
• Asking for votes is not allowed and will result in an immediate disqualification and ban of 3 months from the Competition forums.
• The competition manager will take whatever steps necessary to insure the integrity of the competition.

Awards

• 4 points for the Winner
• 3 points for Second Place
• 2 points for Third Place

Points are accumulated towards the awarding of the Writers' Study Competition Medals.

• 6 points - bronze medal
• 12 points - silver medal
• 24 points - golden medal

Hello there,

I'd like to submit my Machines short-story that I'm currently releasing here in the forums. It is about a group of survivors on an alien planet, trying to reach a certain facility. A story about friendship, survival and the power of nature. What can we learn from a world as alien as this? And will we be able to reveal the fate of this world and learn something for our own?

Insane Or Broken, But Very Much Dead

What does a story tell when the main character is not a hero? Not a villain? Not an extraordinary person by any means other than he is alive? Is it a dull read? Probably. Now what if this main character, this simple living human, is transported to a world where predators are all at the apex of the chain. Where lust and hunger and pain and joy are all the same emotion? Where the lights of the old world brought ruin to the sky, where scabs now rest that were once oceans, graves lie where cities once towered up to the heavens? Is that a more interesting read? Here's hoping since that is what I have tried to do.
