    Default Dark Age: Total War

Hey guys. So I'm basically just giving people an idea and seeing what they make of it because I have no idea how to mod stuff and I am too busy to learn. However, if someone were to run with it, I'd be ok (so long as you give credit).

So, I had this idea for a Total War mod and it could (theoretically) be for any game. The trouble is that Attila is the only one with depopulated regions. The game would be set in 632 and the variety of the factions would increase dramatically, as would the size of the map. I'm basically just going to dump all of the info I have on the documents I've created and then see what people make of it.

    Firstly, the Map!
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

That was the basic map I was using to plot out the major factions. Since then, I've made a much more detailed map (the borders have changed slightly). Warning: The image is pretty big.

Now, what do all these numbers mean? Well, they are in three sets. The first set, in the light grey green in the regions without a dot (as you might have guessed the dots are settlements), are unsettled regions.

These regions are (with the people who live there):

    Urban Levies
Medium infantry. Equipped with round shields and spears, these troops are called upon from the towns and cities to fight in the Frankish army.

Really, how come? Are the map and/or provinces locked?

Whatever the reason, do you think Rome or Medieval II would be better for this? I mean, you could just put villages in the unsettled regions.

Fosr such a mod Medieval 2 and Rome 1 are better, because of the mapping tools and the proposed unit rosters are ok for those games, but for Attila they will be too small

the problem is - we cant add new provinces/regions/cities and expand the map across the 4 corners of the world.

BTW a Dark Age: Total War type of mod is already in the works. Click on my signature pic for more info.

BTW gratz for your hard work to make this up + rep

Fair enough. Would you say Rome 1 or Medieval II would be better then? I mean, I think they have region caps don't they? I'm not sure if they can be changed.

So, in any case, I think the rivers shown on the maps should be sail-able, at least for some of their length. Do you think the Grand Canal of China would be a good thing to put in if this is the case?
