The team of Zombie Mod has to thank the team of Diadochi: Total War (DTW) [RedFox, Spartan, Unda and other good guys] for giving the permission to use the materials of their mod. Zombie mod if fully based on the DTW mod but still is an independent mod-foldered submod for Rome Total War.
The seed
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:Have you ever wondered why the majority of popular games do have some sort of zombie mod for them (Counter-Strike Zombie Mod, TES4: Oblivion 28 days later and so on) and when it comes to everyone's favorite Rome: Total War, Google faints and has nothing sensible to respond to the request Rome Total War Zombie Mod? It is high time to deal with this problem!
We want to create a vision of the zombie Apocalypse on the RTW engine in the ancient period (ye! the Greeks, the Carthaginians and the barbarians against zombies!), to create a good mechanism for the spreading of the zombie-virus, infecting and destroying mankind [not just to add a zombie faction that will be able hire zombies].
The Zombie Apocalypse will be "the same as usual" that means that zombies are stupid-infected-undead brain-eaters, same as in "The Walking Dead" series.Zombie Mod Team

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:1) Is the zombie faction playable?
Yes, it is! It is called "The Contagion". But now zombie faction is a cheat faction.
2) Tell me about the mod balance.
The mod is unbalanced in terms of zombie-faction against non-zombie faction. But we will fix it in next releases.
3) Are there different zombies in the mod?
Not yet. In pre-beta version there is only one zombie type. But the creation of regional zombies (zombie-hoplites, zombie-hastati and so on) is already in progress.
4) Is there a connection between the zombie-infection and the standart game plague?
No, they are separate. Every settlement may be infected both by zombie-infection and by the standart game plague.
5) How does the zombie-infection spread?
To control the infection spreads we have created some special buildings.
Infected Region [permanent]This building appears in the settlement when zombies capture it for the first time. A lot of zombie-stacks appear in the region as the sign of very fast infection spreading in region.
This building reduces ALL farming output in the region, tax rate and the amount of trade in the region.
When zombies capture the infected region for the second time, nothing happens.
Zombie outbreak [not permanent]
This building appears when zombies are near the settlement. Hordes of zombies begin to appear in the region (depending on the settlement level) and the population turns into zombies because of the epidemy.
How to end the outbreak? Demolish this building and kill all zombies in the redius of 8 cells from the settlement.
Attention! If region is already infected, zombies will not appear!
Martial Law (different picture for every culture)
This is the only one new building that can be built by player. Declaring martial law in the region reduces the tax rate and the amount of trade in the region, but increases the law public order. Moreover it reduces the chances of catching the zombie virus (when zombies nearby) from 100% to 5%. Declare the Martial Law when zombies are nearby or you need to increase the public order in the settlement.
6) What faction would you recommend to play
First of all, try the contagion (zombie faction) in order to understand how the infection spreads.
If you want hardcore, try gauls or celts or independent greeks.
Playing for other factions is easier a lot (in the beginning).

2) Now download the ZM Pre-Beta archive

3) Unpack the archive directly to the Rome Total War folder (where are the files RomeTW.exe and RomeTW-ALX.exe are located)
4) To start Rome: Total War - Zombie Mod run the file Zombie Mod.bat in the Rome Total War folder.
5) Attention! Every time you start a new campaign or load a savegame you have to select your city. After that your will see the advisor on the left-top of the screen. Click on his face and he (or she) will say that the Main campaign script is activated. [Playing without the main script activated is poinless because it fully controls the zombie-epidemy and its spreading].

We need:
Model makers - people who can create new zombie models of peasants, warriors and edit mod models (for exaple to lift the hand in 3D max, stick the arrow e.t.c.)
Texture makers - people, who are capable of re-texturing mod units into zombies. This intersects with the "Modeling" job.
Skeleton makes - somebody capable of adding new slow-moving skeleton to mod! It is very important, because now zombies run as human.
Text editors - people who can create colorful description for new units, buildings, campaigns and so on
Text-file editors - we need people who can help with anti-zombie traits e.t.c. because we do not have time to do it ourselves.
Testers - obvious.
Any other help (advise new music, ideas e.t.c.) - we will be glad if u could help us.
